Photographer's Note
This is the courtyard of Philae Temple, dedicated to the ancient Egyptian Goddess of Isis. It was removed from Philae island in the Aswan Low Dam reservoir, built in 1902, further downstream, across the Nile River, and which caused periodic flooding to the temple. When the Aswan High Dam was built in 1968, the temple was transported to a higher location on Agilkia Island in 1972, ahead of inundation by the Aswan High Dam every time they released water downstream into the low dam. The hawk headed God in the centre of the wall relief is Horus.

Hello Chris,
Even lacking people here it's easy to estimate roughly the size of these figures on the wall. They're huge! Seeing them so well kept after so many years is overwhelming. This is another case of perfectly handled sharp light.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Chris,
A fine photo of the reconstructed temple, the good light enhanced details of the carved figures on the facade and the colonada on right.
Excellent outcome.
Wish you a nice weekend,
Ike

Hello Chris, the very thought of moving a temple of these proportions was the most amazing achievement. But we are so pleased that they did.
Super sharp, an excellent point of view.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Chris,
I think I've visited this temple on a daytrip from Aswan. On that Egyptian journey I travelled without a camera. So I don't have a single photo of my trip and am somewhat unsure that it is this place that I actually visited but I think so.
The reliefs on the wall are huge and very beautiful.
Looking at the columns on the right I come to the conclusion that the reliefs are at least the same size.
Excellent presentation.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Chris,
When I was in Aswan, I had to make the hard choice either to visit this lovely temple or to go to Abu Simbel. I have chosen Abu Simbel and this temple I just seen from a distance.
Nice asymmetric capture. Great light and colors. Nobody seems to be around.
Very well done,
M
