Photographer's Note
2 tall obelisks with ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics and a couple of tourists for scale. I cannot believe one of them was wearing a jacket in the 48c heat. I over sharpened this slightly as I have noticed when I post them on Facebook that they look unsharp. Also reduced the burning hot white highlights of the path so you can discern some detail and colour. It originally looked like snow but that's the last thing it could be at 48c in the shade. The backlight was difficult to meter here.

Hello Chris,
I can't imagine how you or anyone could go sightseeing in the burning sun at 48 °C, wearing a jacket or not. Looking at the light and seeing the date June I knew this was a terrible day even before reading the note. But you managed a good composition, suitably vertical, before you most likely collapsed of a heatstroke.

Gert

Hello Chris,
On my monitor, it does not look over-sharpened!
I was immediately aware of the excellent linear perspective that you have created and, as near as is possible to being symmetrical! The inclusion of the figures (very unsuitably dressed) makes us very conscious of the incredible height of these obelisks!
What a place!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

storng, warm light superbly handled. Scale and sharpness, as always, immaculately done.

Bonjour Chris,
La présence des personnes a un effet d'échelle de grandeur. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des obélisques. Une bonne gestion de la lumičre intense qui ne nuit pas au rendu des couleurs. Bonne journée.

Hello Chris,
Incredibly tall and impressive obelisks.
The hieroglyphs are wonderful. Likewise on the piece of standing wall in the middle of the photo.
The visitors look like ants in this impressive environment.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Chris,
An amazing photo of this fantastic area. Excellent vertical composition with the two obelisks on either side. The light was great and the warm tones of the ruins are so well-saturated, adding a great contrast with the blue sky.

Hi Chris,
great spot! Excellent capture!
I suppose the heat had the same effect as the Covid has nowadays: people avoid walking around at that time and that was a chance for you to take unique photos without crowds of tourists. I have struggled to take a good photo there for that exact reason: plenty of people and harsh light.
Amazing place and a great composition with the two obelisks here almost symmetrically framing the scene.
Excellent work,
M

Hello Chris, an excellent view that emphasises the height of the obelisks, plus the presence of the people beneath them.
The light is really well managed, no over exposure here.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hello Chris, Wow, 48 deg is hot! I remember in Assuan it was 43. But the hottest day I felt in Golconda in India. Also in Rio it was very hot. Maybe the jacket is for protection? These obelisks are very tall: one of a pair of obelisks erected by Thutmose I (c. 1493c. 1482 BCE) is 24 metres high, square at the base and 143 tons in weight. How could they erect it 3500 years ago? It is a mystery.
Fantastic composition.

Hi Chris
A great POV to include both obelisks. The darkening of the path was absolutely necessary.
cheers

Hi Chris,
I think you have shown many views of this wonderful place full of history. But it offers more and more beautiful angles. Intense midday sun works surprisingly well here, leaving vertical surfaces in shadow.
