Photographer's Note
An ancient Egyptian jigsaw puzzle, with a partial reconstruction of pieces of the Talatat Wall built by Akhenaten, retrieved from the 9th Pylon of Horemheb's tomb, & the Hypostyle Hall at Karnak. The 2nd & 9th pylons of the latter await the retrieval of the Akhenaten blocks, which were used for fill. "more than 25,000 decorated blocks have been removed from monuments in the vicinity of Karnak, and a possibly equal number of undecorated blocks were recovered, but most of the latter were considered unimportant and were reinserted invisibly at various points during the repair and restoration work." Taken inside the Luxor Museum. Most of the unsorted blocks remain in Cairo.

Hello Chris,
It's fascinating to watch these fragments, and even more the reconstruction of what this once could have looked like. Many pieces of the jigsaw puzzle are missing. It's just a matter of picking them out from the box and fitting them in the right places. Good light and contrasts make us feel the roughness of the pieces and how they rise above the surface.
Regards,
Gert

Bonjour Chris,
Cette partie du musée est impressionnante. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails de la reconstruction de l'oeuvre d'art. La lumičre rehausse les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hello Chris,
This is the truth in archaeology, a small percentage of truth and lots of knowledgeable, puzzle solving!
I'm sure the detective work is very satisfying, as well as frustrating!!
A fine record of these details from the museum.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Chris,
Very interesting view with a few real ancient stone pieces and modern wall filling up the empty space. I'm sure archeologists knot the subject so well they are able to construct the whole picture.

Hello Chris,
A good photo of this ancient jigsaw puzzle, the ancient parts look beautiful with great textures and details. The modern drawings add a good impression of with it used to look like.

Hi Chris
Interesting to see this, it makes the work of an archeologist look fascinating. Lots of pieces are missing but with the sketches we can easily imagine the whole thing.
Best wishes

Hi Chris,
I was recently playing with jigsaw puzzles together with my daughter and I realized some of them were lost.. This must be even more complicated to reconstruct here. It is not even filling the gapt because actually only gaps are available.
Vewry nice reportage from the museum

Hi Chris
An excellent record shot of the museum's ancient exhibit, would make a good graphic-abstract image in its own right. Well done

Hello Chris, a good title that sums up exactly what we are looking at. I like the way that the pictures have been completed by an expert drawing in the missing lines.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

chris
a nice view of this panel with many missing pieces. the artists and archaeologists did a nice job. in those days only the hebrew had only a god, that was a rarity, I presume the idea of this pharaoh had some link with the idea of the hebrew, despite the different aspects..
take care
jorge
