Photographer's Note
This is the Bandiagara Escarpment rising above Dogon village of Teli in the Dogon country of Mali. Remnant dwellings of the ancient Tellem people can be seen at the overhung cliff. This "Cliff of Bandiagara" is designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We had a trekking of four days ascending and descending cliff that rises about 500 meters above the lower sandy flats.
I was too tired to take photos after walking 20km or more a day in the heat exceeding 35℃. This photo was taken on the morning of the first day of the trekking.
PP: I tried to reproduce this scene with a taste of slide film. Images rendered by digital cameras make me feel monotonous music. I love JBL sounds driven by McIntosh power amplifiers.

HI Hishashi
All that trekking in extreme heat and you still bring us this beautiful photo. So I thank you. The colours are so rich...your usual high quality sharpness and definition. The photo is perfectly exposed, not an easy thing in this situation with the huge cliff. Great choice with the vertical frame to further add to the depth and perspective.
TFS and I wish you a beautiful day

Hello Hisashi,
This is a beautiful picture of this strange place. I like your composition with the cliff on the right and on the top of the picture. The colors are really great, especially the rocks and the sky. The vertical format allowed you to include the little houses in the picture.

My dear Hisashi-san
I can only imagine the hardship you endured walking 20 Km a day with all the heavy camera equipments. The colour of the sky specially reminisces a slide film. Lovely colour contrast between the colour of the stone & the sky. The depth you created thanks to the POV is impressive. This picture reminds me of another place (Mesa Verde National Park) I've seen pictures of like this

Thanks for your kind words, Hisashi.
This spectacular view of dwellings dug in soft rock is of an era when fine amplifiers and transducers were not invented!!
Nevertheless I can imagine nowadays a concert broadcasted through a pair of Tannoy Royal, concealed and set symmetrically within openings in rock, for down below visitors enjoyment!
Thanks for this lovely flash back by means of your time machine!
Au revoir!

Hello Hisashi,
It is a longtime I want to visit Mali and Dogon mountains but looking to the political atmosphere it will still not be for this year.
Good point of view and composition on this view. I like the rendering of the colors making me thinking about Velvia slides I used formerly.

Hi Hisashi,
the location of this village in the cliff is amazing!
I guess that its inhabitants did not have to suffer dizziness.
The vertical framing is very effective, and includes some very interesting elements graphically, the image is very sharp and the sunlight floods the rocks, giving it a few warm very beautiful tonalities.
Best regards,
Josep
An excellent composition, a great light and superb colors.
