Toward Mythical Country Dogon, a photo from Mopti, South

Photographer's Note

This is a scene of the Bandiagara Escarpment rising above Dogon village of Teli, where is stuated between Kani Kombolé and Endé in the Dogon country of Mali.
Remnant dwellings of the ancient Tellem people can be seen under the overhung cliff. This "Cliff of Bandiagara" is designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A cow cart is carrying our sleeping bags, ingredients of meals and so on. It get cold at night though it's extremely hot in daytime.

PP: I tried to reproduce this scene with a taste of slide film, using DxO Optics Pro 6 and Photoshop CS2.

Breathtaking scene of this interesting landscape in deep color, good reproduction and pp. Picture with good depth, well balanced composition between main subject and sky area. A dynnamic picture with good diagonal path and the cart timely captured at the third leads eyes into the focal point, this enhanced the perspective further. Crispy shot with good lighting and textures while those trees are attractive additional subjects in the frame. Good notes, Awesome shot Excellent photo work my friend.

Hello Hisashi,

I just noticed your recent Mali posts. Terrrific pictures from a terrific place. My wife and I once went on a 10-day walking tour in this area and your shot brings back some great memories. A fine view of the Bandiagara falaise and the cart is placed just perfectly. Judging from the shadows it was about time you reached your resting place. Nearly there...

This is a fine landscape shot. The deep blue sky provides nice contrast for the red cliff. The ox cart adds a nice point of interest for the shot. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has fine sharpness.

Good to see the wide angle view of the ancient rock dwellings of the Tellems. The red soil & rocks, the strong sun & the excellent contrast with the polarsed blue sky makes this very attractive indeed! The bullock cart is well placed in the frame & provides good scale. A fine documentary style post with brilliant colours!
