Photographer's Note

Today I return to my scanned photos, starting a series from a long journey through West Africa during the winter of 1981–82. I have earlier shown many photos from that journey on various occasions, but I knew I had many photos that I still wanted to post, but that had turned out so badly in scanning that I just couldn't show them. Now I have made a lot of new scans and also found several photos I had neglected before and didn't even remember I had taken.

I will post these photos chronologically and start with two photos from street markets in Niamey, capital of Niger. I didn't start my journey there, but I have already shown my best photos from the three weeks I travelled through Algeria and the central parts of Niger.

There is not much else to say. I have no memory of taking these photos from very ordinary impromptu street markets. I just liked the colours, like almost everywhere in West Africa.

Please have a look at the WS too.

As usual these photos were scanned from Kodachrome slides.
