Photographer's Note
The Bassari Country and its Bassari, Fula and Bedik Cultural Landscapes, located in the southeast of Senegal, is a well-preserved multicultural landscape which emerged from the interaction of human activities and the natural environment. It aggregates three geographical areas: the Bassari–Salémata area, the Bedik–Bandafassi area and the Fula–Dindéfello area, each one with its specifics morphological characteristics.
In 2012, the Bassari Country with its Bassari, Fula and Bedik Cultural Landscapes was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites

Hi dear Malgo,
A fascinating and informative note about this part of Senegal and a delightful and charming photograph of this little group of youngsters and their canine friend.
This is a lovely photograph in which the children appear to be quite happy to have their images captured and their relaxed appearances and bright clothes add to the appeal. I also very much like how you have included some of their homes in the background.
Excellent!
Kindest Regards,
John.

Hello Malgo,
It's a beautiful photo of the picturesque village and the colourfully dressed children. They don't look very interested in you, so they must have met many foreign tourist groups before and lost their childish curiosity. But I am sure it is a great experience for you to see a part of Africa as it really is. This brings back many sweet memories (but I also remember the heat and dust and dirt...).
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Malgo
A good village children photo. The huts look very interesting - is that wood supplies or rocks on the 3 nearest huts?
cheers

Hello Malgo,
The children seem a little suspicious of the photographer but nevertheless make a charming group along with the village dog. The image is well composed with the array of traditional huts placed on the diagonal. Well exposed with excellent colour contrasts and very good sharpness.

Ciao Malgo,
Il y a un blanc dans le village et il est ŕ quatre pattes. Les enfants sont toujours de trčs beaux modčles mais ils semblent encore un peu craintifs devant ta caméra. Mais ils vont se dégęner.
Amicalement

Taka wycieczka to czysta egzotyka, ta wioska troche pewnie jest skansenem, ale wyglada zupelnie inaczej niz nasze rodzime, bardzo fajne zdjecie

Very inquisitive look you got from the kids, Malgo, but I can assume they are used to tourists in their village, which looks relatively tidy, seeing the stone-built huts and the main small round in the big lot.
Nice capture of that moment.
Good evening,
Ike

Ciao Malgo, original trip, far by the coast to see the real black Africa, but i think that there isn't a lot of things to watch there,i was bored by the monotony of villages and landscapes, for that i been just in the coast in my second visit there. But i respect your choice, and the pic is typical of what we can see there, a lot of childs and the classic houses. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Malgo, I am unsure as to what the children are really thinking about you and your camera! Only one of them is actually looking at you.
It is a very interesting picture with their houses in the background.
Thanks for sharing, regards Jean.

Hello Malgo,
These houses are very beautiful with their gabled roofs and walls. Have you been able to enter such a house?
These children will undoubtedly raise questions about your presence while the dog has had enough of it.
Wonderful daily life-picture.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Malgo
I hope you have interior photos of their homes we see in the bg? I'd be very interested to see how they are and what they have inside. all the children are looking at you but they look bored hahaha or maybe just tired. Interesting to read Gert's comments about the dust and dirt. Looking forward to seeing more, and more of their homes :) cheers

Hi Malgo,
Fresh view from Africa! Very strong local ambience. Kids are looking curiously at you. Design of these huts is something I haven't seen before, walls made of big boulders.

Hello Malgo,
A very good photo of this village and its many houses and their pointy roofs in the background. The people and the dog are nicely gathered in the foreground, most of them nicely looking into the camera. Well captured.

Hello Malgo
I like the repetition of the stone huts with their thatched roofs. Good sharpness and the dog and the children animate the scene. An excellent daily life scene from Senegal. Tfs!

Hello Malgo,
This is lovely view from the village. I especially like the traditional houses in the background. The children don't seem overly interested in the photographer, and the girl on the left even looks a bit suspicious. :-) I like the earthy colors and the flowering plants, too.

Hello Malgo,
I love those round huts with thatched roofs. The children here must be used to tourists.

PS. The choir was processing in the photo, they did not stay in the aisle.

Dear Emka,
What a nice picture both of the Bassari children and the typical huts in the background.
I imagine the villages got subsidies from the UN for the upkeep of their environment ?
I love the architecture of the huts with their conical thatched roofs and the handmade mud bricks, decorated by subtle flower beds.
No smiles on the children's faces though . Suspicious look from the older one. I wonder if they are wary of tourists ?
Thanks for sharing this very interesting post anyway.
Kindest regards.
Marie-Louise.

Hello MALgo,
It's very similar huts :-) but no windows in this hot country. These huts are so cute , the surrounding is so tidy and clean, a little stone circular planted with lovely pink flowers. The children appear to be quite shy and showing little enthusiasm being photograph even the dog is looking away from you :-)
To be listed as UNESCO, must be a very interesting place to be. Glad to see it from you.
Ha!Ha! shall I call you , the Queen of African traveller.
Thanks for sharing this Bassari 'stone-hut'
