Photographer's Note

Road between Hargeysa and Berbera passes trough settlements of which not a single one is standing undamaged - ruins, ruins and ruins with occasional new building made during last 10 years of relative peace. It is a weird feeling, wild country with no shops, no roadside advertising, not many cars. There are lots of checkpoints of course, and one bigger village, where I took this shot. People everywhere are shocked to see foreigners, little suspicious, but then usually friendly. The quality of the road is surprisingly good, but then this a link from the only port to capital - so I wonder what the deeper countryside looks like. It always used to be nomad country, so probably most of the towns are some kind of a joke.

This deer is also a symbol/ emblem of the nation, you can see its stupid face, looking as if he was copied from TV cartoon, almost everywhere, for example on all policemen hats and station walls.
