Photographer's Note

This shows part of the Randburg Waterfront, a manmade lake with lots of stores, restaurants and a fleamarket. It is a very big tourist attraction in Johannesburg; it was touted as one of the “Big 5 must-sees” in Johannesburg.

This photograph was taken in Sept 2002. Shortly afterwards they began reconstruction here. The “Waterfront” is a waterfront no more. It now has a couple of waterfeatures and ponds, but most of what used to be underwater is now grass and walkways! It is now called the Brightwater Commons, “waterfront” would now be a misnomer.
