Aridity, a photo from Northern Cape, West

Photographer's Note

The mountains in the background are part of the Namaqualand (Namaqua-Natal) Complex of ultrametamorphism and structural deformation that occurred 1200 million years ago when three continents collided. In the left front corner, and into the distance, is a younger intrusive dolerite dyke of Jurassic age (Approximately 150 million years old). Dolerite dykes are excellent localisers of groundwater and, by drilling boreholes, large parts of western South Africa were made permanently habitable where previously only accessible in nomadic fashion. The sparse vegetation cover reflects the low rainfall of the area.

Excelent DOF on this desert scenery, yellow sand emphasys the contrast on blue sky. Clear outline of the hills on BG.

this arid and wild landscape has a great natural and geological beauty, and you have caught it with all its graphical power in a good framing, under a beautiful light and a few saturated-well colors.
The quality of the image is very high, and offers us all the details of the elements with a great sharpness.

although it is arid, I enjoy to see this S.A landscape. There are interesting contrasts between colour tones. The little bushes remind me of hedgehogs ;D
Just for the fun, I made a ws, hoping you don't mind, because I think there is a bit of a green cast.

to me this is a special view as I have nevr witness any desert yet. Exciting spots of plants all over the arid land.

Goeie môre.
Rou, wilde land, dit is amper 'n woestyn. Maar die woestyn kan mooi wees, veral wanneer ek werklik gryp die kamera lens. Kolos komposisie, kleur en skerpte.
