Photographer's Note

The sun sets below a raised section of Hwy #9 in the eastern Fraser Valley. This elevated roadway is part of the Fraser River flood management system. I liked how the lines and shapes of the heavy concrete structure formed an interested foreground as the sun sets over the river.

great idea to shoot this with the roadway in front. It does make wonderful graphic lines through those madly beautiful sunset colors. I love the tree silhouettes, too, and the way you caught the sun halfway down. This is a fabulous sunset. Many thanks and warm regards,

Hi Gerald,

Some warm light in these cold days and also a nice view were you included the bridge inside the composition and the sun just peaks out behind the trees. Clouds play an important role, they make the sky even more interesting....very nice work.

hi Gerald,
nothing better than a fiery sky and black silhouettes to create a dramatic image, I like a lot the strong colouds that add something hellish to the scene. the strong horizontal line works well to separate the busy lower part from the more open and clear upper part, again something from heavens v. hell motif.

ce ce que l'appelle "savoir capturer les couleurs" et aussi les rendre, rendre l'ambiance d'un moment.
Męme si l'axe qui coupe la photo (cette route) semble trop centré, j'aime le cadrage aussi.

Great end of day composition with the tranquil varying shades of yellow and gold making the ideal backdrop for this silohuetted bridge to stand against.
The bits of blue blend wonderfully with the gold.

Beautiful color of the sunset, fiery red and the silhouette of the railway bridge contrast well. I like the sun as it set into the forest. Very nice composition as well.
