Photographer's Note
I had taken a car from the Hotel at 6 in the morning. The visibility in the fog was a mere 6 feet, and I was harboring aspirations to go to the other side of Yamuna & catch a glimpse of sunrise on the Taj Mahal from the other bank. Braving the white wall like fog, I did reach the destination, but with visibility barely improving, the hope of getting the vision of the famed Taj Mahal & the effect the first rays of the sun on it was rapidly fading into the thick blanket of fog.
With optimism in my heart, I approached the river bank to see a faint outline of the Taj on the other bank. Then slowly a little more....I was not the only one with a camera though, there were at least couple of other guys who I could see had stationed themselves on the sand banks armed with large tripods. The fog played truant, revealing the silhouetted domes & minarets of Taj & then in the next moment shrouding the scene again...I hung around for about half an hour taking pictures almost by the minute. Then the fog became dense again & I started my retreat. This was one of the moments when a silhouetted part of the Taj, and the mosque on the right which seemed to have won a battle against the fog...at least for that very moment.
My last post for some time, as tomorrow I move to Mumbai (Bombay) in my new work assignment. Will see you all in TE after I manage to settle down a bit. Till then take care.

hi Angshuman,
your persistence paid off, the shot is great :) I like a lot the pale purple and pink tones, and mirror-perfect reflection reminds me of kaleidoscopes, something I enjoyed a lot as a kid. and I like that you have included the mosque on the right, it does seem as if it fades away in the fog, and I find it adds to the dream-like quality of the moment. excellent work, my compliments.

Bonjour Angshu

Hello Angshuman! Fog has such wonderful qualities, it gives the Taj Mahal such a lightness, it almost floats. Your efforts payed you out with this wonderful shot, it gives so much back. I always like these little adventures, they make you smile, sometimes shake your head but mostly it is my girls in the train when I ride to work and I guess they think rather her than us ;))) If they only knew what they miss ... Great work indeed! Best regards, Barbara.

Hello Mr. B,
An astonishingly beautiful view of the iconic architectural edifice, a gift for the ages. The personal note is engaging, as always. I think that like most gifted photographers, you intuitively pause at sites where other seemingly serious photographers have set up their gear, at places that might be new discoveries. This is too much of a classic to be a new discovery, but the ungodly hour, 6:00 am, attests to your serious approach.
Warm regards, and have a good Sunday.

Hi Angshu!
SUPERB!!!! I appreciate very much this shot, taken from the other side of the Yamuna river, with its complicated light. You've done a great work with it and the fog. The poetic mood is at its highest, with the pastel hues and the reflections. A fairy tale vision, absolutely appropriate for the magnificent Taj. The composition is excellent: the monument seems to float in the air, the apparition of the domes seems magical and mysterious. Pure beauty! Congratulations!!!!

Hi Angshu!!!
So at the moment I'm writting you this comment, you might already have emptied your boxes and all the dishes are in the shelves and your computer is wired... :-P)
Hope you'll find yourself at home anytime soon in Mumbai. But you are an eternal "mover", so you will adapt in no time. Just a quick word my friend to let you know that Kolkata, your beloved city, was a fascinating one for my western eyes... I just had a crush for this bustling city, full of energy, great people and... photo ops. Next time I go in India, you can be sure I'll spend at least 10 days up there (if only my lungs can hold up that long...).
Now, concerning your stunning shot, my friend, we had the same intention with this foggy Yamuna, but with totally different results. I just love what you did with your vision and creativity to get the best out of this mysterious white blanket that last for weeks...
There's only so much photos you can do in the fog, and after a couple of days, I was desperate. But I have to recognize that a couple of them through a portfolio is certainly catchy. On my version, the fog was so thick that you can only see the contour of the Taj, without any nice details like in your shot. Plus you have a nice reflection, doubling the beauty of your scene.
Great work Angshu!
Hope to see you again!
