Fitzroy Sunrise, a photo from Santa Cruz, South

Photographer's Note

To watch the sunrise at the Mirador Fitzroy close to the Campamento Laguna Capri, you have to get up very early. I started my ascent - still a little bit drowsy - at 5:30 from El Chaltén, equipped with a flashlight and - of course - my heavy photo equipment in the backpack. ;-) After a little bit more than one hour I reached the viewpoint, just at the right time for the sunrise.
The color fireworks was indescribable: On the one side the rising sun performs a magical red dawn while exactly opposite the Fitzroy - massif glistened golden in the very first sunbeams.

Very well taken...The composition is really special and awe inspiring. The landscape, well clearly unique, leaves one breathless. Colors and timing are simply perfect. Well done !

I'm not sure what to think about this shot. Well, obviously its beauty is unbelievable, but is it warm or cold. On the one hand the color of the mountain create a warm atmosphere but the snow says something different, doesn't it. You could think that it is warm up there!

Very nice lights on this wonderfull mountain !
I like very much the dark sky.
But the foreground is a bit too dark especially on the left.

I have met with Fitzroy (not the captain, of course), only I didn't think about getting so early to climb the 1 hour climb - turns out it was worth it! In this picture you were extremely lucky, not only to see the peak (as the weather in that area is stable as nitroglycerine) but also to have the heavy clouds stage as a wonderful dark BG to the wild and intense rise of the sun...Well done, bravo!
