Photographer's Note
When traveling somewhere or simply having a photo session, I guess we all have that feeling once in a while, where we have the impression that we caught a special image, one that is cool, creative or meaningful.
Of all the thousands of photos we are bringing back, this is the one we are looking forward to appreciate on our computer screen in full resolution.
From my trip in Turkey, this is the one. Nothing spectacular, just a photo of a man that somehow, epitomizes my experience with friendly Turkish people.
As we were walking through every narrow streets and passages in the small village of Ibrahim Pasa, we pushed our luck by passing through a doorway that was leading to a private inner court., curious to see what was on the other side.
My girlfriend found a cat and was busy shooting it, when suddenly, this handsome man arrived through the same doorway on its vintage motorcycle.
I immediately saw all the potential of this stylish and proud man driving his awesome bike, like a Turkish version of James Dean.

You were right to be excited by this one, Andre - fantastic shot, full of life, style and humanity. Proud is a great word for him - he looks like he's gotten the most out of life. You've framed him absolutely perfectly within the doorway, and the nice dark background lets us really appreciate the rugged lines of the face.
The motorcycle is brilliant, and once again you've chosen the perfect angle and DOF, bringing the front tire almost into 3D and really showcasing the old but powerful feel of the machine. Really wonderful capture!

Hello Andre - I can quite understand why you had a good feeling about this one, it is really excellent. I love what the wide angle has done to the perspective and proportions of the bike. The front wheel, petrol tank, chassis and the rider's leg have both been pulled forward and elongated with a fantastic result; punchy and perfect for the subject.
The composition is nicely controlled with wheel and leg plus foot creating strong lines toward the lower corners of the frame and the rider's tilted head and torso is cleverly framed by the doorway.
A serendipitous meeting with a fantastic result. A really 'sassy' portrait. Warm regards rosemary

Salut Andre ,

Bye, Claude

Hello Andre,
a fascinating portrait, very successful thanks to the composition, the subject's naturalness and the interaction between you. The motorcycle is very intriguing as an object and offers great depth, perspective and dynamism to the composition. But it's also essential for the gentleman's being so direct, proud and comfortable. I love his posture and smile. He surely has sensed and shares your fascination and appreciation. The backdrop and the ground create a wonderful context. I also love the lighting, colours and textures. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely evening,
Ourania

Hi Andre,
A lot of positive elements must meet in order to catch such a great photo as yours (surprise moment, great subject, light, colours, excellent composition). I could imagine this photo on a cover to Turkey travel guide.
Great work, TFS.

Hi Andre
I really like the concept here - the old big boys' toy! probably 1960's BSA model either looking in from the past, or fading out of the present but still proudly serviceable. nevertheless attractve enough to draw the eyes showing its rustic qualities. Obviously now in the ownership of someone who loves this a lot, the equally antique Mr James Dean look-alike. Diagonal framing, closeness and fg edge distortion, the effect of wide lens add the impact so nicely.
Great capture, TFS
Best regards

Hi Andre,
Oh yes, proud posture captured with close and wide angle, front wheel pushing close to the lens. The wheel also add diagonal line from the bottom corner. Good connection between him and the camera. Nine matching brown tones.

Good choice of aperture which allows us to savor the beauty of the details, while the candid note gives the background of the shot.

Hello Kelly. I like especially the countries in Southeast Asia. The photographed portrait is very intense in the effect. It is the expressive eyes and lovely face. But especially touched me the emotional title. I like the photo very much because it has a human touch. Rgds, Wolfgang.

Hi Andre
I'm very jealous of this one.
Wish I had taken it myself.
Wonderful perspectives - the long leg, the foot, the arms, and the long front tire all extend outwards.
Probably one of my favorites of yours.
Good on ya!
cheers

Hello Andre,
The wide angle lens creates a nice effect:
makes the picture tougher and creates
also an extra depth. Light management and
the composition are as always excellent.
A nice detail/extra is that the colors
of the motorbike, his jacked and the
surrounding fits together and also a nice
extra is that the man is photogenic.
Friendly regards,
Robert

Bonsoir Andre,
Bravo, bravo,
Emmanuel
