Photographer's Note
The Wedge Pond is a rather obscure stop on the side of Highway 40 in Kananaskis country, where the occasional fisherman will stop to catch a trout without needing to step into the water. This little pond can be quite glamorous in the fall though, when the aspens turn color and the surrounding peaks rising up to 3000 m have been covered with the first snow of the season. A still moment is rare in these valleys, which channel the wind blasting down the east slopes the Rocky Mountains.
I had to wait for almost an hour for two groups of tourists to bugger off, but it was worth it. The prominent mountain in the background is The Fortress.

Wow, what a spot! The scenary is spectacular and your photo shows it off perfectly. The first thing that grabs my attention is the colour of those trees, and having a great mountain in the background always helps too. The reflection is wonderful too. Great work!

Hi Roland,
I like here the superb PoV and mirror, it's a nice crystal clear and deep image of the rockies, I like also that some tree colors are beginning to turn towards autumn. Never thought about shooting panoramas in such places ?
Have a nice day,

Great shot Roly;
The one thing I REALLY like about all your photos is the level of detail you manage. Crisp and sharp.... keeps my eyes glued to the photo. The composition here is great as well. I like how you included the tall grasses in the photo, and the mirror like effect off the water.
Nicely done Roly!

Wow, this is a fabulous image ! The level of details seem amazingly high, and the framing is perfect: the first plan is there, but is carefuly positioned so that it does not interfere with the reflection of the mountain in the water.
Your patience was really worth it !
On my 10-22, it seems that going over f9 is not worth it, but on your "L", it makes wonders :)

Ropland this is the kind of photo I would love to capture. What a beautiful country to view. Gorgous lighting on fall colors combined with a superb mountain background which is shown in reflection as well in full glory. an amazing photo...nothing else to say really. Thanks for posting... Paul

Hi Roland:
Absolutely lovely, that's all I can say. One of the most beautiful shots I've seen of Kananaskis. Your wait was definitely well worth it. Great job.
