Phat Diem, a photo from Ninh Binh, Red River Delta

Photographer's Note

This is one of the Chapels of Phat Diem. Situated in Ninh Binh Province, Phat Diem is a centre of Catholicism in the North of Vietnam and its famous Chatedral, also known as the Stone Church, was built in the 19th century, having been designed by a Vietnamese Priest. The Cathedral is surrounded by a complex formed by lakes, caves and four chapels. That's exactly one of those chapels that I'm showing here, just to show you how styles can get mixed there.

Linda foto desta igreja bem centrada e bonitas cores possivelmente foi usado tripé, năo? E pelo que me parece deve ser contruida em madeira. Sinto que já estou a ficar mestre nos meus comentários.

A very interesting document; I first thought it was a buddhist temple. A good low perspective to show the wooden structure and roof decorations.

Wow! What a capture, amazing interior of temple. Your low point of view almost included every parts of temple but the red columns and golden ornaments at the end of hall are just speechless. Fantastic space due to high ceiling in your perfectly captured photo.

Hello Ana. Very informative photo and beautiful interior. I sure like it. Interesting low point of view also (were you laying on the floor?). I think that there's a very slight tilt though. Perhaps that the line between the cross on the tabernacle and the middle upper icon should be perfectly vertical. Amicalement, Claude.

I have never seen such Oriental style chapel, and am surprised this doesn't have more comment though this post seems to be very suitable for TE's mission. I wonder why the image is inclined to left a little bit.

é um mix de templo budista e de igreja católica.gostei do resultado estravagante. Penso que a luz está boa mas a nitidez poderia ter sido um pouco melhor. o pov baixo é muito bom e o enquadramento perfeito. lindo trabalho, faz a gente imaginar estar ali dentro

O tempo de exposiçăo foi perfeito! A nitidez está ótima! O ponto de vista bem baixinho (rente ao chăo) foi uma escolha acertada para compor essa imagem riquíssima de belos detalhes e com cores muito bonitas mesmo! Gostei bastante! Parabéns, abraços e até mais!

stupendous depth caused by the genial low POV. This is a really rare photo, because the people when go to Vietnam, they only photograph Buddhist or Induist temples. Excellent idea very well introduced. Brava!

I like your low POV here, Ana - it accentuates the feeling of height. Your exposure is perfect and the symmetrical framing is good - except there is a slight tilt to the left. Cheers . . . David

Foto espectacular, Anabela. Năo é muito normal ver igrejas católicas do sudeste asiático. Gosto muito do ponto de vista. Se calhar năo tinhas tripé e apoiaste a máquina no chăo - o resultado é fantástico e a estrutura de madeira é muito interessante. Surpreendente qualidade de imagem para os 7s de exposiçăo.

Fantástico! Até no Vietname foste descobrir igrejinhas! :D E bem bonita e original, por sinal! Correndo o risco de estar a dizer disparates, dá ideia de ser uma mistura de estilos que resulta muito bem: altar barroco, colunas ŕ chinesa, relevos esculpidos ŕ indochinesa e/ou indiana... O PdV e as cores săo estupendos, é uma imagem de encher o olho!

Hi Ana. Impressive how it looks with that low pov. I think it's a good choice to give more a sentiment of grandeur. It's very colourful; quite different than most churches in Europe.

Oi Ana,

Ralmente interessant esta igreja, em uma primeira olhada nao da para imaginar que seja uma igreja catolica, mas parece um templo budista com estas colunas vermelhas, o detalhe dos bancos e da virgem no altar objetos familiares nas igrejas catolicas e que chamam nossa atencao para este fato. Um PV baixo muito bem escolhido criando otima profundidade e valorizando os detalhes arquiteturais do local.

Ana,
Beautiful interior shot of the chapel in a very unlikely place. there is some Asian influence somehow in the decoration and design, maybe it's the material or the color or the whole setting, at first glance it looks like inside a Bhudist temeple. Beautiful details, good managed on the light and good symmetry. Thanks.

Richly decorated interiors of this chapel, which I at first thought as a temple. Fine symmetry and tall high ceiling with good sculpted figures on the woodwork. Fine work Ana!

I like the low 'kneeling' POV. You've presented us the distinctive details and mixed features in the interior. The intricate applications appeared in form on religiuos chapels here a amazing. Good effective shot favoring the upper portion of the chapel showing the entire ceiling.
