Photographer's Note
‘Toruń – Out of the blue, into the black’
My second picture taken (last summer) on the Old Town Market Square (Rynek Staromiejski) in Toruń.
While the crowds of tourists were somewhere in a restaurant or in a bar, I was enjoying the last minutes of the blue hour on that beautiful square with its historical buildings.
Shortly after taking this picture the last blue in the sky turned black.
As usual I had forgotten my tripod. So I took several shots of which I’ve choosen this one to post here.

Hej Paul,
It seems to me that you succeded very well. I might guess that the "noise" is du to a high iso? I like the feeleing thats created, It doesnt always have to so polished and pure. I little roughness is just fine here and makes the photo yours.

Ciao Paul,
I have to make you the most sincere compliments because to capture a sky, as this, under these conditions of light, it's really difficult. You have managed the light and the colors in marvelous way, showing all of your cleverness. Very beautiful.

Hello Paul,
No tripod, handheld, great result. Yes the image has some noise, but sometimes it doesn't matter and for me with this shot there are so many interesting elements a bit of noise is of no consequence. I like your composition, you show the right amount of everything.
The practical lights give the image a warm cosy look, and the reflection across the cobblestones is wonderful.
Really good shot, compliments.
Cheers

hello Paul
Great view of night at the square and having a good view of the hotel and tower under blue hour sky.
Not sure about the shutter since no photo info is given but f/2.8 has allowed good stable hand for this sharp focus. It is much better than my 500mm lens of 1.8kg

Paul,
Very nice night shot, beautiful color and good composition. the emty street give a kind lonely feel and very moody. The noise level is bit high but good enough to enjoy. Yes a tripod with have help greatly. Sometimes it's hard to carry around a tripod in the city. Thanks

Hallo Paul,
Ik zie hier een zeer snelle sluitertijd en toch krijgen we een zeer mooie foto, echt een foto tijdens het blauw uur.
Licht en kleuren mogen absoluut gezien worden, ook de scherpte is very goed. Mooi foto werk, bedankt.
Groeten,
John.

Hi Paul
Well done. These shots have more impact at the blue hour than later in the night.I think it is because blue and yellow/orange are opposites on the colour wheel.

Olá Paul, wonderful blue tones turning to black and marvellous lighting. You did an impressive capture considering you didn't had a tripod. There's a bit of noise but it doesn't bother me at all. Good balance bettween the lamppost at left with the tower at right while the bright hotel sign keeps the center shinning ;-)

Hi Paul,
It's a wonderful late blue hour, about becoming "black hour". I like the light and colour management. Sometimes the artificial lights produce a yellow/greenish cast that is hard to overcome, but here those oranges are beautiful.
The only thing that is pity is the noise, but it doesn't look like an easy thing to correct effectively.
Regards, José.

Hi Paul
thanks for your critic.
Pictures taken at blue hour are always better than those in dark night and your one got spectaculars clouds.
Pov give a large scale of this place and take a picture without tripod is hard on night. My only critic is about noise clearly visible on dark parts but i saw on exif you got a compact camera who are more subject to this than dslr. and if you shot without tripod, i think camera got high iso to make fast shot at night. So problem here isn't photographer part but material part.
Have a good day

Paul,
This is a fine blue hour shot! The reflected light on the square leads the eye into the shot nicely. There is a bit of noise in the sky but it does not hurt the effect of the shot.

Hello Paul,
Good result without a tripod, night shot with enough light on the sky to keep the "blue-hour" term intact, and given a strong contrast.
The golden light shining on the paved street wonderfully added to the depth of the scene.
My best regards,

Hi Paul,
this is certainly one of the most beautiful towns in Poland, and because it is off the beaten track -not many people even heard about it.
I had the pleasure to visit it but very long time ago without a camera.
I was very impressed.
I see you mentioned the lack of tripod, it is noticeable here. You are always presenting perfect quality blue hour photos so I was a bit surprised to see some noise.
I thing noise filtering software wold turn it into a perfect shot again.
Lovely market scene. It encourages me to visit this town someday again,
Enjoy your trip to Nepal!
