Photographer's Note

Trondheim is centrally located in Norway and lies at the mouth of the River Nidelva on the south shore of Trondheimsfjord. This fjord is the third longest fjord in Norway. Trondheim was once called Nidaros and was the capital city until 1217. The Vikings used Trondheim as a departure harbour for its expeditions.

There are many old wooden buildings in the city and the warehouses shown in this picture line the river. The cathedral can also be seen.

Hello Ann,
This is an excellent photo. The beautiful old houses are beautifully reflected and you have "anchored" the composition perfectly in the two red buoys. I get an impression they were left there for the benefit of observant photograpers. They also form a kind of triangle with the top of the church tower. You were blessed with fine weather and a very good light, but a less gifted photographer could probably have wasted such an opportunity anyway.

amazing picture - well done! I like the format in here which enahnces all the vertical lines of the composition. The reflections of the houses in the water add more color to the lower part of the image. Very interesting architecture and nicely presented.

Hello Ann,

This is a delightful and colourful photograph, perfectly composed with the cathedral spire perfectly placed, a lovely diagonal on the facades of the warehouses, fine reflections on the water and, of course, the two red buoys in the foreground topping it off nicely. Gorgeous light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness. And all beneath a fine blue aky. What more could one ask for?

An interesting note too about this place. Am I right in thinking that these tall narrow buildings are no longer used as warehouses but have probably been converted into expensive apartments?

A delightful view from this city with an attractive waterfront, with beautiful rich colours. This row of warehouses is eyecatching and captured with good détails. Excellent choice of the vertical format to emphasize the height of the buildings and create a nice balance with the lovely reflections in the rippled water. The FG red buoys are a nice add-on to this beautiful cityscape, the icing on the cake I should say. Perfect !

This shot has all the ingredients for a good presentation Ann. The colourful and distinctive buildings scream out to be photographed and here with the good light their colour is enhanced. The reflections are lovely too with an attractive shimmering distortion created by the ruffled water.

Hello Ann,

This is a beautiful photograph, not only because of its warm colours, so generously reflected in the water, but, also, because of its mood. I felt a sense of relaxation the minute I surveyed it.
Your well-judged angle creates natural r/l movement across the frame, where the cathedral spire is strongly placed.
Because of the tranquillity of the water, I would suspect that you didn't take this from the boat.

A very beautiful view! I have never been as far north in Norway as this city, but your picture makes me wish to go there. sei stata molto brava nel cogliere questo scorcio particolarmente bello della cittŕ di Trondheim che io ricordo abbastanza cupa e raccolta intorno alla famosa cattedrale.
Questo particolare angolo a me era sfuggito, ma te sei stata bravissima nel coglierlo e inserirlo in una magica visione nella quale alle belle e tipiche facciate delle antiche case norvegesi si unisce il profilo della cattedrale in una succesione di piani perfetta per una composizione impeccabile.
Ottimi colori, contrasto, nitidezza.

I visited Trondheim several times and often thought these iconic warehouses were not so easy to photograph. Often poor light, commercial signs you want to avoid, an unpleasant element in the background, etc. Here you sure found an excellent point of view and it happened to be in beautiful weather at the right time of the day. Very pleasant view combining the colourful warehouse with the towers of the cathedral, the other outstanding landmark. Beautiful light and reflections.

This is a wonderful capture that works so well in the extended vertical format you have chosen. I love the colours of the facades and the reflections . I also like the way the utilitarian looking facades are contrasted with the ornate spires

oooh this is a magical shot. I love the choice of the vertical frame which seems to elongate the steeple and also the vertical reflections. The colours and silvery blue light are delightful and the black frame sets them off nicely. Jeez you get around. I thought Malgo Itchy Feet was intrepid, but you're just as intrepid!

beautiful presentation form Trondheim. As usually very well thought through composition. The colorful houses are the highlight. I like their unique style and lovely colors. The reflection doubles the treat with some vertical lines created which contrast with the horizontal lines of the clouds in the sky.

This is a beautiful image, displayed in three 'layers'.. The wonderful sun light shines on the colourful buildings, the church, and the blue sky..full of colour. You do fantastic colours on your images.. that's how I remembered your images that I picked up from thumbnails..I can never produce some of the colours as you do.

Lovely graphic composition of this typical view of Trondheim ! The vertical format works perfectly with the elegant spire of the cathedral and the high colourful warehouses reflecting into the Nidelva.
The 2 red buoys are eye-catchers also.
