Photographer's Note

The view from Lomnicky Stit(2.634m a.s.l.) to the Mala Studena dolina.
The first tourist ascent was done by the English traveller Robert Townson from Malá Studená Dolina (Small Cold Valley) in 1793. He measured almost the precise height of the Lomnický Peak. Winter ascent was done in 1891.
The peak has been accessible by a cable car from Tatranská Lomnica since 1940. Thus it became the most visited peak of the High Tatras. The cable car station on the top of the peak is connected to the highest situated Astronomical and Meteorological Observatory in Slovakia. At the summit, the TV transmission station was built in 1957 and electric power line was brought in from Skalnatá dolina (Rocky Valley) in 1965.

Great snowy mountain scene! I love the footprints seen on the right side. Otherwise the snow looks so pristine and sparkling. The air looks so fresh too! Great composition and POV. Good depth of field I can see the cloud detail all the way to the BG.

Peter..hey...this must have been a good trek up the mountains..good depth..gosh you had to shoot 1250 at f11..how harsh was the light...i remember i was at 17100feet..and a high f reqd just 1/30..shooting aperture...

another problem here is shooting with shades on..you always get the wrong reading..isnt it...you have to take it off..adjust the polarizer..etc..risk damaging the cornea..

hello Peter,
I think this is great, makes you realise how tiny humans are in reality. it's not easy to find an effective composition among the lines and textures of the mountains, but I think you have managed very well, I like a lot how the edges of the slopes form lead-in lines towards the cloud cover. the minor adjustment I'd make is to crop slightly from the top, the curving think line of the sky is a little distracting, but that's a small point. great shot, my compliments.
