Photographer's Note
This is York Minster-- one of the largest Cathedrals in the Northern Hemisphere-- If you look carefully at the top of the centre Stain glass window you will see a heart.. I wonder who it was for.. ??
I post this image for a special friend
From Wiki - an amazing source of information:
York Minster is a cathedral in York, England. The minster is the seat of the Archbishop of York, the second-highest office of the Church of England and is the cathedral for the Diocese of York; it is run by a dean and chapter under the Dean of York. The formal title of York Minster is "The Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of St Peter in York".[1] The title "minster" is attributed to churches established in the Anglo-Saxon period as missionary teaching churches, and serves now as an honorific title.[1] Services in the minster are sometimes regarded as on the High Church or Anglo-Catholic end of the Anglican continuum.[2]
The minster has a very wide Decorated Gothic nave and chapter house, a Perpendicular Gothic choir and east end and Early English north and south transepts. The nave contains the West Window, constructed in 1338, and over the Lady Chapel in the east end is the Great East Window, (finished in 1408), the largest expanse of medieval stained glass in the world. In the north transept is the Five Sisters Window, each lancet being over 16 metres (52 ft) high. The south transept contains a famous rose window.

Hi Rich. Wonderfully detailed structure. Sharpness, exposure and light are tops. The extremely dark shadows do spoil the overall upward thrust of the image as they drag the eye down.Best wishes for the week. Klaudio.

Excellent capture of the Minster. The stormy sky overhead provides a great dramatic background. There is plenty of light on the front of the cathedral which means the fine details of the intricate architecture can be fully appreciated. Very well done.

Hi Rich,
This is a magnificent photograph of the west door of York Minster, the gorgeous pale stonework portrayed beautifully against a wonderfully deep blue sky. I'm wondering if you used a polarising filter for this one?
The low late afternoon sunlight illuminates the building beautifully and the surrounding trees (which also make a very fine frame) have cast some lovely shadows. The lines of the kerb and the road markings make good lead-in lines, the pedestrians add some human interest as well as a fine sense of scale, and the lighting, colours, exposure and sharpness are all perfect.
An interesting note too!
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Richard!
It's a really beautiful shot of a magnificent cathedral! Not the easiest monument to photograph, I believe, but you have done a great job. The details are very good and the sky was perfect. I also like the light and the presence of the people.
The heart is also a good detail:)!
Good to see there are works going on there!
