Photographer's Note
A cute vanilla seller met during the lunch stop of my driver along the way to Andasibe.
Madagascar is the world's larger producer of vanilla beans. Vanilla is the only orchid that produces an edible fruit.
Originally from Mexico, vanilla was introduced to Madagascar during the nineteenth century, but without the native pollinators (bees and hummingbirds) local growers must hand pollinate the plant.
This makes vanilla perhaps the most labor-intensive crop in the world, taking as long as five years between first planting the vine and producing aged extract.

Ciao Luca,
Bellissimi, come sempre i colori d'Africa!

what did you say to the kids that they are so happy?? Great, capture Luca, you were able to capture not only their smiles but their innocence as well.
Cheers,

Nice one Luca - what pulls it beyond the cute smiling face pic is the reality of the background - the serious-faced boys for example. Nicely composed around the bananas - good work,
Francis

hello Luca, i am seeing at TV on vanillia in Madagascar... and at the same time i see your picture... great capture expression from this little girl, vanillia is very expensive in Europa, and workers are only 25 euros by month......

Hi Luca,
Vanilla is an orchid??!! And so we learn every day!
Like the tight 'crop' with the bananas almost in 3D popping out of my screen. I'm not a big fan of the cutting off of the heads at the top of the screen. But a sweet shot and good not anyhow!!
Greetings,
Dennis
