Photographer's Note

This is the Rochdale canal that runs through the Pennine town of Hebden Bridge.

Hebden Bridge is a market town in the Upper Calder Valley in West Yorkshire.
8 miles west of Halifax, 14 miles north east of Rochdale. It is situated at the confluence of the River Calder and the Hebden Water.

The original settlement was the hilltop village of Heptonstall. Hebden Bridge started as a settlement where the Halifax to Burnley packhorse route dropped into the valley and crossed the River Hebden where the old bridge stands.
These shots were taken 11 years ago, and my guess is that the view has not changed at all.

L'on dirait que le grand bâtiment situé sur la gauche s'apparente ŕ un ancien moulin ?
Les prises de vue sont intéressantes, particuličrement celle de l'éclusier en plein effort (maintenant, tout fonctionne ou presque par informatique) !

Reminds me of a similar canal at Skipton, North Yorkshire, I had seen in July 2016. Beautifully composed frame.

Beautiful three canal pictures, Jean, rightly chosen the main post.
The #1 WS show the work by the lock-keeper, intriguing hard work as it looks.
We do not have canals in Israel, so I am always enthusiastic to see such pictures, cheers.

Hello Jean,
I think you did well after all to use this as the main photo. We get a very good view along the canal, the colourful boats and the rather attractive grey building. It is the best composition with the strongest features.

Hello Jean,

Three fine shots of the Rochdale Canal at Hebden Bridge.
I think your supposition is correct about it not altering. This is a tourist attraction and they don't want things to change!

You have chosen a fine viewpoint, the canal and the narrowboats guiding us succinctly from the strong f/g to the interesting mill features in the b/g.
The boats and the buildings make excellent reflections in the canal.

Jean, colorful river boats are moored in that canal. I think their owners can sleep inside like barges. The picture has an excellent depth. The promenade going along the water is a perfect place to do sports and observe the activities. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

excellent these three views, we have a glimpse of the canal and the area, the people dealing with the canal was interesting, with intense sense of movement and effort. nice compos.we have a big rocky river near my town and there was projects to made it navigable during these last two centuries, but they never got and probably no more because it is being considerate the last big preserved river in Plata-Paraná basin and it will be left as a natural monument..

Hello Jean,
Lovely view of the canal with anchored boats.
Looking at the photo, it looks like these boats are inhabited permanently.
The opposite bank with buildings looks to commercial purposes, while the other one to recreation.
Well done picture looking down from the bridge.
