The phantom of Chelsea Market, a photo from New York, Northeast

Photographer's Note

Chelsea Market is a gourmet food arcade, located on the ground floor of what used to be a large complex of bakeries. The original factory first opened in the 1890's, and remained in use until it shut down operations in the late 1950's. After that, the space was purchased by a private investor, and it was renovated and reopened as Chelsea Market in the 1990's.

Many of the original architectural details were kept, and it is an amazing place to shop. There are exposed bricks, pipes, metal beams, old machinery, etc. throughout the market.

Here is a phantom shopper stepping over a lighted section of the floor.

In the workshop you can see a full view of the interior.

With this Brenda you have arrived!
At a whole different level to your shots up till now
this is not taking anything away from them but this is really magical!
my one and only critisism is the central point of the subject.
Taking that aside i genuinely love this photo.
A true masterstroke from you Brenda, i hope this marks a new even better direction.
From a compact its even more appreciated.

Olá Brenda, this is a fun picture. Both images make me think you're a very short person :))) The thumbnail didn't prepare me for this giant foot. Love the way it stands so firmely on the ground while the rest of the body vanished in the air. Wonderful artistic work and nice to see more context in the complementar WS.

Hi Brenda,
I quite like the effect of the long exposure and the impressionistic ghostly effect. The fact his shoes seem stationery is an excellent effect. Warm colours, a sense of mystery as well.

This photo is so intriguing. I couldn't stop looking at it and trying to figure out. Then I started to notice the background, ceiling and floor, full of texture and patterns. TFS.

Nice long expo effect here -- love how the leg kind of evaporates in the air ... ghostly, yeah ... and littel detail which titillates me, just a bit -- that photograph on the wall showing some man at work, or, in my sick imagination, a mass murderer ... which makes this photo certainly more intriguing and disquieting.

well, you can chalk this one up to another place in NYC i didn't make it to!
I was even in the Chelsea area, but didn't make it specifically here - damn!
seems like you have alot of photo's of places I missed lol
The WS photo gave me a great peek into the description from your note, i like that.
Its clear that alot of TE members have enjoyed this photo, me too.
