Series on my trip to the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - NORTH AMERICA - Visiting SAN FRANCISCO (CALIFORNIA) and LAKE TAHOE (CALIFORNIA/NEVADA) - From February 1st to February 19th, 2011 - #007!

HEAVENLY (VI) !

This picture was taken from the slopes of HEAVENLY SKI RESORT, as one looks towards the deserts of NEVADA! It was my 5th/last day of ski in that area!

Again, trying to photograph the uniqueness of that place: the SIERRA NEVADA and the DESERTS OF NEVADA simultaneously before my eyes! Trying also to have someone skiing in one of my images!

I must say that I was surprised by the beauty of that place and also by the amount of ski resorts around LAKE TAHOE: 15 total, I think!

Following my aim of skiing in many places all over the World, last year I decided I'd like to ski in the LAKE TAHOE AREA (in the border of the States of CALIFORNIA and NEVADA, in the SIERRA NEVADA/USA)! By doing so, I'd visit one of the most beautiful mountain regions in North America and also one of the most beautiful cities in the World: SAN FRANCISCO!

Flying SĂO PAULO-NEW YORK-SAN FRANCISCO-RENO (some minor changes while doing that), this was the first entire trip I planned and arranged all by myself and using internet only (flights, buses & hotels)! The fact was that when I arrived in NYC, my next flight (United) to San Francisco, together with all the other United flights after 6pm had been cancelled! So, I had to take a shuttle from the JFK to Penn Station, a train from there to Washington D.C., where I'd go to Dulles International Airport, so I could get an early morning flight finally to San Francisco... and so I did! Stayed one day in SFO and the flew to RENO, where I got a prescheduled bus to SOUTH LAKE TAHOE!

Un trčs bon positionnement de ce ce skieur dans ce trčs bel environnement.Les ombres bleues donnent une agréable touche ŕ cette image.

outra linda vista da encosta nevada. gosto da posiçăo do esquiador e da paisagem árida ao longe. muito boa a luz, enq. e os detalhes; os pinheiros dăo a impressăo que o vento sopra de baixo para cima.
imagino que cada local destes que vc esquiou tenha um tipo de neve que faz o esporte ser diferente. até agora, qual o local que mais te agradou para esquiar em termos apenas de esporte ?(sem levar a paisagem em conta)

what I like the most in this fabulous picture is that it almost has a 3D dimension, the man on white slop on right is scaling the landscape on BG, and town on the vally looks so tiny...

Bon cadrage avec une belle pente, le skieur anime la vue qui plonge vers la vallée, intéressante profondeur d'image, grandiose paysage.

Olŕ Neyvan,

Le moemnt décisif trčs bein capté avec le skieur idéalement situé sur la penre enneigée. J'aime ce beau contraste entre cette pente et le paysage ŕ l'arričre-plan. une image trčs profonde également grâce ŕ cette succession de plans.

Hi Ney,
You have show one of the main reason people love to live in California. You're nevet too far from the beach, the snow, the desert and much more.
Even in LA, we had a good snow last week, all the peaks are white and skiiing will be great for the next few weeks. Anyway. good shot with nice composition as the skier getting into the composition and down the hill, love the fact that you show the deserty valley below.

A nice place for skiing in California!
This area even hosted the Winter Olympics once, many years ago...
The strong diagonal characterizes the composition, and the image has a strong sense of depth, looking down on the plains below!

I do not particularly like the nature photos. Here, too, I like the composition. Neatly cut in half on the diagonal design of the image field. The dynamics of people give skier in the picture. The colors are interesting, I do not know how normal, (a bluish-white snow), but I've never been so in the winter mountains.
