A close view of the details of the roofs of Hammamet, captured from the top of the Fort.
Hammamet is a town in Tunisia. Due to its beaches it is a popular destination for swimming and water sports. It was the first tourist destination in Tunisia. It is located in the south east of the northern peninsula of Cap Bon in the Governorate of Nabeul, on the northern edge of the Gulf of Hammamet.
The reported number of inhabitants varies from 20,000 to 70,000 and the population quadruples due to tourists in the summer.
It is particularly known for jasmine, and this is how the tourist resort of Yasmine Hammamet got its name. All over Hammamet, souvenirs made of jasmine can be found.
Reportedly, Tunisian ex-President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali spent his vacations in Hammamet.
Around Hammamet, all kinds of immigrant towns/suburbs are being built as immigrants from the southern part of the country come to find work. As a popular destination for tourists, it brings a lot of money to Tunisia.
The 2005 World Scout Conference was held in Hammamet.

La cittŕ, fondata durante l'epoca romana, č stata meta di numerosi turisti celebri, fra i quali illustri politici come Winston Churchill, e scrittori come Gustave Flaubert.
In Italia č nota principalmente perché nel 1994 vi si rifugiň Bettino Craxi, sfuggendo ad un mandato di cattura internazionale e morendovi da latitante nel 2000.
Nella Marina Hammamet si tiene annualmente il festival musicale Night in Tunisiana.

Interesting details of the roofs. So many details can be seen! I would like to stand on this balcony and see other roofs. Beautiful shot in blue and white. it can be only in Mediterranean with such a splendid light.

classici tetti tunisini con le immancabili parabole.
La vista dal forte č molto bella, ci sono stato molti anni fa, ma ho ancora un piacevole ricordo.
Ottimo taglio e ottima composizione, c'č un bel movimento costituito dai vari piani dei terrazzi.

Hello Luciano,
The point of view makes the most of the graphical lines offered by these roofs with their different levels. Even the ubiquitous satellite dishes with their trailing wires play a part. Good rendering of tones and textures.

The appeal of this shot lies in the colours Luciano. Blue and white is a combination that is clean and classic. Here the blues are varied and for the most part form the most attractive decorative details on the roof tops. Do the satellite dishes add or detract from the composition? I don't dislike them as they are part and parcel of modern life and in this instance tell us about the people who live in this traditional-looking building. Hello Luciano,
It's mainly the designs of the buildings that tell us this is not Greece, but from the colours it could have been Santorini or anywhere. Very nice combinations of blue and white anyway, with a very steep diagonal staircase leading up to the roof. The satellite discs don't really fit the surroundings, but unfortunately they have become so common now it's impossible to wish them gone. You have handled the extreme light very well.

what jumped out at me immediately is the sharpness. Even at the top of the white rails the blue rounded pieces are so clear and focused.
and its so easy to over expose these white subjects, but you have controlled it smartly my friend :)

PS. You're right, I should have used a tripod. I was hoping, on a sunny day, the shutter speed would be fast enough but apparently, it was not. Furthermore, that kind of detail cannot be seen on the little screen of the camera. Had I caught that in time, I would have tried it again with a tripod.

hai inquadrato questa vista sui tetti intricati molto bene e la nitidezza e' magnifica. C' e' un intricatissimo gioco di prospettive che si comincia a seguire per poi perdersi in un mare di dettagli; eppure tutto continua a sembrare cosi chiaro:) Hai gestito la luce superbamente e l' interazione di tonalita' del bianco e del azzuro e' piacevolissima. A beautiful kind of architecture but this harmony is destroyed by antennas :-).
Yes I know cameras haven't any function to erase such kind of unwanted elements during taking photos :-)
But seriously - I like the colouring, composition and an interesting form of building.... and an excellent framing.

Apart from the 'style' of the houses, this could so easily be Greece, with its predominance of blue and white. Isn't it amazing how technology has spread, now most places have satellite dishes!

This is a really nicely composed shot, the buildings sharply exposed and the light very well controlled, despite the strong sunshine on white walls.
