Retour sur l'exercice d'évacuation médicalisée dans les montagnes afghanes avec Jerzy Bucki, alias Bantonbuju. Le principe du thčme est que chacun de mes complices du jour choisit le sujet ŕ sa guise parmi mes photos, je lui donne l'original (en RAW s'il le veut et si disponible (pas ici)) et il la traite comme il la ressent. Ensuite je retourne sur mon image, je l'adapte et je poste les 3 ensemble (invité, original et version "officielle"). J'en ai encore quelques unes en stock!
Avis aux amateurs...

Back to the medical evacuation exercise in the mountains of Afghanistan with Jerzy Bucki, alias Bantonbuju. The principle of this theme is that each of my guests of the day chooses the topic among my pictures, I give him the original (RAW if he needs and if available (not here)) and he treats it as he likes. Then I returne to my image, I adapt the picture and I post the whole (guest, original and "official" version).
I still have a few left!

Hey, Marc,
This series of photos is powerful and striking. Amazing stuff. You've gone beyond simply capturing the action. You're eliciting the drama and intensity of the soldiers. It's photojournalism at its best. You're doing everything right. I hope you're getting these published somewhere. Best, -Hugh

the reason why i picked this one for the exercise was that it perfectly fits my mood in terms of the "dense" atmosphere around the vehicles, with just a remote, delicate line of the hills in the background, and the whole "action" developing in two places...
i find that vehicle in a distance playing a vital role in the whole composition being complementary to the helicopter and its crew...

Bonjour marc, moi aussi je préfčre celle ci, plus neutre au traitement qu ŕ fait Jerzy, pas besoin de davantage de couleurs, le thčme est sérieux et il se suffit déjŕ ŕ lui męme, donc ton traitement me convient;
je veux bien participer ŕ ce genre d essai si tu es partant

Celle-ci est plus dans le genre documentaire, il y a beaucoup ŕ observer quant ŕ tout l'équipement et aussi leurs gestes, j'aime également comment le regard est aspiré vers le lointain, la route menant vers les montagnes et la voiture bloquée en plein milieu avec des gens debout, ce qui donne un sens de 'happening' et d'urgence.

Bonjour Marc,
Ton traitement donne une version trčs journalistique de l'image en y supprimant toutes les nuances de bleu et sans y rajouter de teintes chaudes comme l'a fait Jerzy. Tu nous montres l'essentiel et moi, ça me va! J'aime bien le léger flou sur les pales de l'hélico.

Bonjour Marc,

2 approches totalement differentes entre ton traitement et celui de Bantonbuju. Au final, j ai une petite preference pour ton approche de desaturation partielle qui permet de mieux faire passer l impact de cette brume. Ca a aussi l avantage de faire ressortir comme point d accroche les touches rouges du materiel medical.
Faut dire aussi que ces derniers temps, au cinema, cette approche de desaturation a été pas mal utilisé avec succés ce qui nous a aussi un peu preparé a ce type d image. Je pense notamment a "Il faut le soldat Ryan" qui avait une tres belle photo.

Your shots of the excercise in Afghanistan are alway so special. Not many of us has the opportunity to photograph such seen. Well done, with great moments. Technically and artistically are all good. Good sharpness and clarity and good composition. Thanks for sharing and your nice comments.
