Yerevan Cascade, a photo from Yerevan, West

Photographer's Note

The Cascade is a giant stairway in Yerevan, Armenia. It links the downtown Kentron area of Yerevan with the Monument neighborhood. The construction of the cascade designed by architects Jim Torosyan, Aslan Mkhitaryan, Sargis Gurzadyan was launched in 1971 and completed in 1980.

Inside the Cascade, underneath the exterior steps are a couple of escalators going the length of the complex. There are also rooms connected to some of the landings along the escalators which compose the Cafesjian Museum of Art.

The exterior of cascade, in addition to stairs has multiple levels with fountains and sculptures. The stairs afford walkers unobstructed views of central Yerevan and Mount Ararat.

Hello Piotr,
I guess these are water-jets that were not operative at time taken,
It as a nice pattern and view from a triangular shaped stairs case, that's what i learn from the note and photo, to my humnle judjment.
Fine clear details with light upon.

dawno mnie nie bylo, ale to wina z braku czasu. Pokazujesz przepiekna architekture i jednocznie bardzo ciekawa jak i ciekawe ujecie. Super kompozycja i wykonanie.
ps. rzeczywiscie co do naszych sasiadow to Praga jest bardzo pieknym kolorowym miastem i bardzo wiele do zwiedzania i ogladania. Bylismy zauroczeni jego urokiem i pieknem.

This is a very original photo from the Cascade. I don't remember seeing this angle before. You found a lot of very attractive diagonals and interesting shapes and there is also a fine contrast between grey and green.

Hello Piotr,

This is quite an amazing construction and how well it suits photography! The cascades look like many eyes ! I like how the light gives them shape and depth.
It's a well composed photograph.
I remember Malgo posting a similar photograph but, on inspection, I see that hers did not contain the attractive plants that are present here.

I have never seen this before, I wonder if anyone else has posted it on TE in the past?

too bad there isn't a person in the shot for scale and size perspective, its kind of hard to tell how large or small they are.

its beautiful though, and the lighting you captured it in really makes the scene pop, you couldn't have asked for a better light. very clear and sharp too. excellent subject
