View of Government House - the building is home to the Government of Armenia

Republic Square is the central town square in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. It consists of two sections: an oval roundabout and a trapezoid-shaped section which contains a pool with musical fountains. The square is surrounded by five major buildings built in pink and yellow tuff in the neoclassical style with extensive use of Armenian motifs. This architectural ensemble includes the Government House, the History Museum and the National Gallery, Armenia Marriott Hotel and the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Transport and Communications. The square was originally designed by Alexander Tamanian in 1924. The construction of most of the buildings was completed by the 1950s; the last buildingthe National Gallerywas completed in 1977.

Hello Piotr,
Yerevan is not as exciting and picturesque as Tbilisi, but I liked the neat and clean streets and the relaxed atmosphere. This photo shows well the pleasant ambience I experienced. It's the nicest place in the city and both museums here were quite good. There is a good balance between the fountain, the higher section of the building and the people sitting on the low wall.

Cześc Piotrze, Ładny widok głównego placu w Erywaniu, Główny budynek w ciekawym kolorze i z ładnymi arkadami. Jak ja byłam to oczywiście fontanna była nieczynna z powodu zimowej pogody. Bardzo ładny kadr i kolory. Moje ulubione miejsce to chyba te schody i widok z góry na Ararat. I rzeźby Bottero które tam są.

Lovely picture of this not very spectacular, but nevertheless attractive square in Yerevan. The fountain and the large pool around make this a good place to relax lake the people on the border seems to do.

Hello Piotr,
I just loved the atmosphere during the summer nights on and around this square. In the evening the illumination and the reflections in the fountains were fabulous. My hotel wasn't far from here. So I could stay late.
On this beautiful picture it looks a bit quieter. But still a nice place to relax with a great view of the beautiful architecture.
The people on the foreground and the fountains in a row give more depth to the photo.
The national flag is waving nicely in between the clouds.

As said before, we do not get to see many photos on TE from this city, Piotr.
The wide red-bricks building has an imposing appearance, well lit under the afternoon sun, and many details and objects around shown marvelously clear.

Une image qui attire l'oeil par sa composition et son sujet.
Cette fontaine avec cette explosion d'eau est superbe et met en relief l'architecture située en arričre-plan.

A great photo of this square, it shows both the architecture and the daily life really well. The juxtaposition of the Government house and the fountain is excellent and makes the composition really attractive. The sunlight provide ideal circumstances too.

Hi Piotr,

It is really nice to see Armenian culture so alive and vibrant here. There are many vestiges of Armenian culture in what is now eastern Turkey but the Armenians are long gone. The red brick clock tower makes a nice primary focal point with the fountain a close 2nd. TFS!

I love the juxtaposition, an excellent take of a pleasant old town full of charm as the architectural beauty really grabs our attention. It's obvious to see why you'd want to capture this scene. I like many things about this scene: the warm sunlight, the way the fountain is off to the right, and the beautiful architecture. Looking at the central part of this facade, the part with the lovely clock, I can see an abstract face. The arch looks like a mouth, and the two small windows are the eyes. :-)
