This is the medieval Armenian monastery, Khor Virap, tied to a legend about a martyr who spent years in a hole on the site of the monastery. In the background is Mt. Ararat, which is on the territory of Turkey. This is a famous image, but also timeless, and the one that everyone who visits the place feels compelled to make.
