Monks climbing to the Third Level at Angkor Wat. You only are allowed 45 minutes to explore the third level and no hats are allowed while you are on that level. The views are amazing from this level of the surrounding area. Ankgor Wat was constructed 1120- 1150 under the ruler Suryavarman II. It served as the capital of the Khmer empire and was the state temple. We began our visit at the secondary entrance to the complex on the East side. Most people begin at the main entrance on the West side of what is considered the largest religious monument in the world. Angkor Wat is dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu.
