Photographer's Note

J'étais dans les ruines de Ta Prohm. Mon temple préféré. Je marchais vite avant la tombée de la nuit.
J'avais le nez en l'air pour juger la lumičre.
Il n'y avait plus les hordes de touristes et la chaleur de plomb. Je croyais que j'aurais les vieilles pierres pour moi seul.
Au bout du grand chemin, j'allais entrer dans l'obscurité du temple.

Mais mon pas s'est figé devant un sourire imprévu.
Une statue vivante pleine de délicatesse et de charme.
L'enfant tenait une bęte étrange. Elle ne parlait pas mais ces yeux pétillaient.
J'ai oublié la beauté des temples. La célébrité des pierres. Les rayons de lumičre que je venais chasser.
Je suis resté avec elle.

I was in the ruins of Ta Prohm. My preferred temple.
I walked quickly before fallen the night.
I had the nose in the air to judge the light.
There were no more the hordes of tourists.I believed that I would only have the old stones for me.

At the end of main road, I was going to enter the darkness of the temple.
But my step solidified in front of an unforeseen smile. An alive statue full with delicacy and charm. The child held a strange animal. She did not speak but these eyes sparkled. I forgot the beauty of the temples. The celebrity of the stones. The rays of light which I came to drive out.
I remained with her.

J'aime l'attitude de la gamine avec elle aussi son sourire en coin... j'aime l'attitude de cette étrange bęte alanguie... J'aime les belles et douces couleurs de ta composition ... J'aime enfin cette petite note qui donne envie de continuer ŕ déambuler ŕ tes côtés dans ce temple...

Bonsoir Bertrand,
Excellent portrait, avec un cadrage impeccable et la mise au point sur le visage de cet enfant avec un effet de flou sur le temple derričre, du grand art ! Mais un portrait n'est pas réussi sans un bon "modčle", et le sourire et le regard de cet enfant apportent beaucoup de chaleur humaine ŕ la photo.

I love it. Portraits don't get much better than this. The girl is perfectly positioned in the frame, and she has an almost "Mona Lisa" smile. I love the shallow DOF, but we still get a sense of place with the ruins making for a beautiful backdrop. Great shot.

In March i will be here and i am really curious what i can expect on the photography level. Oh sure i will get some good ones, but if they are as good as this one?
Really a great shot with a lens that is known a plastic piece of crap (ever tried the 1.4 version...or even betetr the 1.2 version?), but seeing this the result is stunning. Okay it's a small presentation, so how it looks on full size, any flaws from that lens on the quality?
I like this photo very much, the girl looks natural although it is posed, she has a very nice touch in showing her self. Her smile is with digity and some proud. Absolute great work here...you improved a lot since you were started on till now...my compliments..!!!

La faible lumičre et les ruines du temple en fond donnent une ambiance assez particuličre ŕ ce portrait. Je suis toujours impressionnée par la qualité obtenue avec ce petit 50mm qui convient parfaitement ŕ ce genre de situations. Sais tu ce que c'est comme animal? Je dirais une mangouste, mais je ne suis pas certaine. En tout cas je ne pensais pas que l'on pouvait caresser ce genre de bébęte comme un chat!

Je crois avoir photographié la męme jolie fillette parmi les ruines de Ta Prohm il y'a bientôt deux ans, elle semble avoir bien grandi depuis. Ma photo est dans TE. j'adore cette photo comme beaucoup d'autres l'ont déjŕ reemarqué. Mais quel animal est-ce- pour se laisser caresser comme un petit chien ?

J'avais manqué cette photo que je trouve absolument ravissante. Comme toi, je suis contemplatif devant les ruines de Ta Prohm, mais ces vieilles pierres ne deviennent vraiment sublimes que lorsque mises en relation avec des humains... :-P)

Ici mon vieux, tu as trouvé un modčle parfait pour égayer ces séculaires vestiges. Ce que je trouve particuličrement remarquable, ce sont ses vętements qui s'amalgame parfaitement au décor, avec quelques touches de vert et de couleurs terreuses. La bęte mystérieuse qu'elle tient entre ses bras est un ajout fort intéressant et apporte une autre dimension ŕ la photo. Bon coup de chance!

Ta photo est une preuve tangible qu'il est payant de continuer d'explorer, bien aprčs que la horde de touristes ait quitté.

Ces sourires ont enchanté comme atristé mon voyage au Cambodge qui restera néanmoins un grand moment de rencontres et de découvertes.
