Photographer's Note
Qingdao summers can be unrelenting both in humidity and in noise! The leafier parts of town are covered in little creatures like this guy, presumably a Chinese cicada. They sit in shady trees and make an amazing racket.
Most of them are out of sight up in the canopy, but this creature was found a little lower down on a street near my house.
Tech: Crop, USM, resize, sharpen, brightness & contrast (slight increase on both).

I have to admit that I like this photo because I live in China right now and can hear the buzz of ciadas as I write this. I will say that it's hard to get a sense of its size without some sort of scale. Even if there was a leaf nearby, it would give the viewer an idea of the scale. (The cicadas I've seen are almost the size of my hand).

very good picture..after reading the messages,I am curious to know the size of it now..I don't know what cicada is and thought it was a kind of fly :)
I try to write the rough size when I post pictures as such ; macros, abstractions without a ref in the picture(not here, in TL)...
