Fort Juyongguan (居庸关) was the main fortress for the denfendance of Beijing to the north-west. It is called the heart of the dragon. It's completely restored and usually there are masses of tourists. This picture was taken short time after SARS in 2003 and so you see only few people on the steps.

Wow Roland, you have visited some amazing places. You were lucky to be here while the Sars scare was on and you had plenty of room to see it all.
