Wow! What incredible colors and composition. That was very creative of you to place the small figures of the people at the bottom left corner to contrast with the huge red wall at the top right. It is so clear and well done that I feel like I am looking at this scene in real life. Awesome! -Lara

Hi Stephane,
Really efficient composition. And surprising play with scale. Sheer size of the wall and pavement stones really shrink the people on the corner. Little people on a big country with big system.

This pic capture the eye firt for the colors composition, so strong, then it surprises for the size of the people, so small: proportions are different from the first glance.

Hi Stephane!
Excellent shot. I really love the minimalistic composition and composition of colors here. You've captured a wonderful moment. It's really rare to see only 3 people walking somewhere in China, especially in such a touristic place as the Forbidden City.
I would add a frame to stress the composition.
I've posted your photo to workshop, just small, cosmetic changes. Take a look.
Best regards

Hello Stephane,
What I like is the composition with this diagonal bar slicing through the image dividing it thoroughly into 2 similar sized triangles yet with different colours....
The composition resembles some national flags. The rain has done a lot to the colours which thanks to it look more attractive.
As far as humans are concerned - personally I'm not convinced to this type of composition which consists in pushing them to corners (quite popular recently). Instead I would prefer to have them placed somewhere in the middle of the lower triangle... The second thing is that these people with umbrellas seem slightly out of focus or not sharp - but I don't know if this is as a result of postprocessing or focusing the lens before...
Overall it's an interesting picture worth to have a look at...

Cool shot Stephane;
the diagonal of the wall is what attracted me to the shot, but upon viewing the full size image, we see these people which really convey the size of this wall.
Nicely done,

Great composition. Very geometric with the image divided by two red triangles. Ver minimalist. The pattern of the ground is superb and the inclusion of the two people with their colourful rain coats and umbrellas is great.

Hi Stephane,
Beautiful and romantic this photo, with the women that proceed in-cellophane under the umbrellas to protect herself from the rain.
Effective also the clean cut of the color and a stained wet floor that probably could become protagonist of a photo with the women in the left angle...
Bravo.

Bon dimanche.

Hi Stephane,
Despite the rain, there is a happy glow to the scene, with the two people huddled in colourful regalia and balancing the frame nicely. The graphism is impressive and I like the angled view. It is amazing how much rich colour is present in the scene despite the rainy conditions. There is also an emphasis here on three distinct types of texture. Well done, Stephane.

This is a triumph of a composition. The red wall is wonderfully diagonal across the frame, leaving the bottom half to be 'populated'by the colourfully dresses people. The rains did bring out their colours of their raincoats & umbrellas, contrasting against the pavement. Excellent work, superbly creative

Bonjour Stephane,
Your China pictures are from before my time here and I discovered them through your forum item, late, late, late...
Anyway, I hope you can still read this, not that this picture needs the extra attention (it has gotten quite a lot already), but if Cath (noborders) says your pictures are worth checking out, I follow that lead...and yes, this is an ABSOLUTE gem.
I'm still a relative newcomer on TE, but it pains me if you would decide to leave. This picture is the kind of treasure I hope to discover on any TE session...and this comes from someone who must have seen zillions of Forbidden City pictures!
