Bo Ao Boat and net, a photo from Hainan, South

Photographer's Note

The Chinese tour group I was with wanted to tear off and see some (to them) famous and significant rock several kilometres offshore, but I preferred to stay ashore and contemplate the quiet harbour instead. The fish trap was unusual and reminded me of similar traps I had seen in Thailand. The day was hazy. This might be the Wanquan River.

Hello Chris,
This photo has a nice range of blue and green (and blueish, greenish) tones, and the two boats look like in a still life composition. The fish trap is interesting and looks unfamiliar to me.

Hello Chris,
The mild light gave a special hue to the whole picture outcome. Green and blue with brown tint.
Yet, the picture is superbly clear and shows the net as a hint about the technique used there.

Les reflets sur l'eau sont des atouts ŕ la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails du bateau et du filet de pęche. Le ciel nuageux ne nuit pas au rendu des couleurs. Bonne journée.

Hello Chris,
A good photo of this old boat in the soft, subdued light. Its colours, even though they are somewhat worn-off, still look good. I like the yellowish tones around them as well.

Good choice! Instead of a not-so-famous rock you got a good daily life shot. The hazy weather provided an unobstructive background and the muted colours of the boat are really nice.

I also saw this type of fish net in both Vietnam and up the Mekong in Laos. Good photo of boats and net.

The day does seem hazy but that adds to the sense of calm that you mention in your notes.
You have chosen a fine viewpoint, which places the boat on a diagonal and also, allows the extended nets to be fully included.

Hello Chris, sometimes we don't have to go with the crowds, and if you had you wouldn't have captured this peaceful scene with the rather tired looking boat moored for the night.
The fishing trap in the background is very interesting and adds to the scene.
