Photographer's Note

Here is another photo (actually three, because there will be two workshop pictures as well) in the "nothing special" category. This time "nothing special" refers more to the featured city than the photos.

I have a suspicion that most of you have never heard of Jabalpur, a city of more than a million people exactly in the geographical centre of India. There are no magnificent or famous temples, mosques or palaces, nothing special at all, and very few tourists. I quite enjoyed the day I spent here in 1991 on my way to Khajuraho, the famous temple town. There are very few photos on TE from Jabalpur, and most of them show a waterfall on the Narmada river outside the city. Until now, there were no photos showing any ordinary streets of Jabalpur. But to me, the total lack of important sights made Jabalpur seem like provincial India at its best.

All photos were scanned from Kodachrome slides.

Here is a larger version.
