Admiring Khajuraho...The lady Brigade, a photo from Madhya Pradesh, Central

Photographer's Note

Taking a break from the Bengali wedding series, mainly because of laziness, need to scan...:(
Meanwhile here a few that I took in Khajuraho, famous 9th century temples in Madhya Pradesh. Boasting of some exquisite carvings, these temples have a wide range of sculptures that depict love, passion, dance, war but most of all, eroticism.

We will follow these ladies and of course some more as they go about admiring Khajuraho in the next few uploads...

I like your picture even if the colours look a bit saturated. It is very curious to see the ladies covering their faces but at the same time lifting the veils to allow them to look the steps. It would be interesting to know what they were about to do. Well done.

Hello Durba. Culture, color, Exotik. In the center multicolored dressed women. It harms that one does not see the faces clearer. With the next uploads we more are experienced over the women. The photo is beautiful and dynamic. Good screen window. It pleases me very well. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Excellent combination of colours, the sarees really stand out against the stone works. I wonder if they are hiding their face from the eroticsm on display....nah...its just out of habit, thats my guess. Looking forward to your series to see how they react :)

Nicely captured these ladies with covered faces stepping down from the temple. The sturated colours of their sarees and good light falling from left make it a very good shot.

The colours of their sarees gives this picture a lot of life. Placed in a diagonal as they climb down the steps theri ghungat covered faces mask their expressions...Guess what they would be reacting as Sabyasachi stated...we'll wait for your future posts..kromosho prokashyo

Strange scene but powerful. Is really good and is plenty of little details (even colours) and they make of this one not only a daily life scene, also a decisive moment.

Namaste, Durba! There is a genuinely painterly quality about this Bengali wedding scene (like Monsoon Wedding?) A liquidity about the way these veiled ladies come down the steps, a sensuality if you will, and on top of that the mix of textures - the silky sari and the ancient stone...

i find this best in the series of Khajuraho.
indian women brigade in "ghomta" in Khajuraho, thats great. wish if there face could be seen, a very good photo in terms of thoughts. i always like ur pics due to their intelligence.
