Photographer's Note
I SHOT IT AT GANGASAGAR MELA(FAIR).
Gangasagar Mela is the largest fair celebrated in West Bengal(INDIA). This fair is held where the Ganga and the Bay of Bengal form a nexus. Hence the name Gangasagar Mela. This festival is celebrated during January every year and is a major attraction for millions of piligrams from all over India.
The pilgrims come for a holy dip on Makar Sankranti (last day of the Bengali Month) Negha -Mid January. They take dips in the Ganges and offer water to the Sun God. The dip, as they say, purifies their 'self' and according to them, 'punya' can be obtained thus. When they are done with the ritual obligations, they head towards the Kapilmuni Temple situated nearby, to worship the deity as a mark of respect.
In every year in the time of fair, some poor local people beg with their child from the men who came here to obtain "punya" (accumulate of religious merits).
You saw my previous post of this series, here is another one ....hope you like it

Dear Subir,
You have already developed your signature in your presentations. Your style of shaded framing, B&W tuning and your objects are unique in your style.
Congratulation for your achievement that I have noticed in your gallery.
I have a query! Who is this deity?
Four hands - Suggests another form of the Goddess of energy?
Snake in the left upper hand - Devi Manasa?
Sword in the Rt. upper hand (You have cropped) - Devi Kalika?
Swan accompanying - saraswati?
Best wishes.

SUBIR..
I have to see this image of yours in this way:
1. Effort: You have made full use of the
facilities and captured the best
possible image from that
circumstance.
2. Colour: It is a choice and here the choice
of B/W contributes to the image
and is effective.
3. Composition: Break the so called laws and
think what works in this case..Here
the subject gets a relevent space.
4. Direction of Attention: The hunt for the
subject stands out here and never
makes us search that..
5. Focus: There are no rules for this too..
It's only whether the subject is
contained within the depth of field
or not..and you have it in sense..
6. Exposure:Proper exposure is needed for
details in highlights and shadows..
here, you have won..
AND EFFECTS, AS A PHOTOGRAPHER, YOU DECIDE HOW IT SHOULD BE EXPLAINED... Here, that's a good approach..
Subir, this is an excellent performance.
What I was in the first instant thunder shocked
is the look of the small child !!
SALUTES, for this sensible image.

Hi Subir,
This is a wonderful composition. The grainy look is giving a better and older feeling. The innocent look of the child is so beautiful. Great capture.
