Photographer's Note
I took this shot at Taki (a town near Kolkata.. In this photo you can see the Ichhamati River.. At the bottom of the frame you see the India and the other side of the river is Bangladesh.. It is an international border between these two countries..
It's being 64 years our motherland was broken unscientifically into two parts by some power hungry politicians. We, the common people of Bengal never wanted this. Though we speak same, eat same, wear same, probably the thoughts are also same unfortunately we are the inhabitants of two different countries.
At the occasion of Bijoya Dashomi, the last day of Durga puja the emotion of partition victims breaks the international border to get together with their near and dear ones. The citizens of Bangladesh and West Bengal, India both cross the border by boat to find their lost soul. This is the river Ichhamati flows between two countries. But this is not just a river for us this is the barbed wire over our heart. Because, We are BENGALI(The inhabitants of West Bengal and Bangladesh are called Bengali).
Thanks for your visit..

Hello Indrasish,
The B&W image enhanced the drama you were writing about. Yet it gave a good clear view over the river, filled with people and boats participating.
Immaculate clarity and well under daylight picture.
Have a nice weekend,
Ike

Hi Indrasish,
This is a dramatic photo, and a fantastic note to go with it. The black and white heightens the drama well, and the line of people combined with the boats shows the void between nations and between people really well. Perfect execution of this, really nicely done.
Best wishes

Dear Indrashish,
You know when you talk with the people they'll often tell you it's the same country in their mind of course not administratively
An excellent report in b&w version of that huge delta area, I like the crowd on the river and your comment

Hello Indrasish,
this is a superb photo, very spectacular, atmospheric and emotionally charged with the information and feelings cited in your note. It looks like a historical document and probably is. I like very much the monochrome treatment that is pleasing to the eyes and allows us to concentrate on the basic facts and atmosphere without the interference of distractions. There's great clarity, most impressive in the shady foreground. Excellent work, congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,
Ourania
