Photographer's Note
I had several posts of sunsets at different locations -- the hills, the rivers and the seas. May be I am somewhat obsessed with this particular phenomenon of nature which adds a bit of melancholy and flushes the soul too. This one I took on the river Brahmaputra in Assam.
From its origin in southwestern Tibet as the Yarlung Zangbo River, it flows across southern Tibet to break through the Himalayas in great gorges and into Arunachal Pradesh where it is known as Dihang. It flows southwest through the Assam Valley as Brahmaputra and south through Bangladesh where the river merges with the Ganges and splits into two: the Padma and Meghna River. About 1,800 miles long, the river is an important source for irrigation and transportation. When it merges with the Ganges it forms the world's largest delta, the Sunderbans, known for tigers, crocodiles and mangroves. While most rivers on the Indian subcontinent have female names, this river has a rare male name, as it means "son of Brahma" in Sanskrit (putra means "son").

Hello Partha,
A strange mood here, created by the muted light as the sun is approaching the horizon!
The mysterious haze, the silhouetted islands, all adding to the atmosphere...
The mood is well conveyed in this well balanced composition!

Hi Partha,
lovely sunset shot with the reflection of the sun on the calmly surface of the lake to be an eye catcher of the scene. The silhouettes of the land and the boats are assets to the composition.

Hello Partha
Assam is a state I wish to go one day! a place where it seems it's raining a lot during the monsoon!
Here, it looks very peaceful, the sun reflecting in the river and the mountains fading in the far, are nice details to look at.
Greetings from Cambodia

Olá Partha, it's amazing how the sun almost disapears in the mist, like a fragile lighted candle. Still, it shinnes nicely in the dark. Wonderful mood, love the shadowed world seen here.

Hello Partha,
An image very intimate with that sun setting in the horizon. The darkness gives a great atmosphere.
Best wishes,
Charo
