Photographer's Note
this was taken on my way to the indo-china border in arunachal pradesh. i had stopped over at a military base in assam. the place was filled with tea gardens. i walked up at about 4 in the morning and went for a walk to the nearby village.at about 5 there was a group of kids.while taking their photographs, i said something to them which made them laugh and luckily i was able to capture it. the light was extrememly good.

sohrab i am glad you also shoot in color it adds sth different to your work. a complete photographer should be able to go back and forth btw subjects, color and b&w IMO;-).. you did great: you do have a great sense of a-propos in your portraits iMO; Take it as a compliment;-) excellent use of DOF here to blur the boy in the background and keep focus on the fore kid. bravo! very enthusiasming for a morning shot for me ( i woke up one hour ago;-)) lol

You are right Sohrab, the light here is just great. Can't beat early morning sunlight when it comes to photography, I just wish it didn't have to occur so early in the day ;). Excellent expressions here and I like the really tight crop. I wish the dark form in the bottom left (another child?) wasn't there and I wish this could be just a little sharper, but overall, this is a very effective and pleasing capture. Good shot.

those smiles are wonderful, the compo is very good, colors are really nice. two things bother me: the picture is out of focus a bit and this black sth in the lower corner, the rest is good. good stuff

Great photo... totally captured the essence of childhood.
The shallow depth of field and fully filled frame gives a sense of timelessness. I'm sure they both will be smiling long after I stop looking...

I am giving you thumbs up for the composition. I like the tight composition here and the DOF. Sharper? Colors? Well, I think I like it the way it is. It does have a classic look like this. I like taking pictures of kids too so its nice to find company in you. Looking forward for more.

I like this very much. Your title is perfect! In this situation it would have been easy to concentrate on the chap in front, but your inclusion of the happy kid in the background is great.

Another really good portrait, expressing joy. I like the inclusion of the second face, slightly blurred behind

This is photo so pure. What was it actually that you say to them? Obviously something extremely funny! You made their day! Beautifull that early morning light!
