Photographer's Note
Buddha Amitayus (Of Infinite Life), a deity associated with rites that would ensure a long life, at Namdroling Monastery is made in a typical Tibetan style. It has its own timeless heritage and awesome painting all over the place. Namdroling Monastery in Byalakuppe is a thriving community and home to thousands of lamas, monks and nuns, making it the largest Nyingmapa teaching center in the world. The Golden Temple is situated between Mysore and Madikere. The monastery houses approximately 3,000 monks and a shedra, or monastic college, with approximately 600 students. The buildings have been painted in faded shades of yellow and red. There are numerous shrine halls, including the new Golden Temple, which houses larger-than-life gold statues[that measure over 35 feet tall] of the Buddha Sakyamuni, Guru Padmasambhava, and the Buddha of long life, Amitayus. In addition to the statues, the temple features beautiful hand-painted murals of the deities and lamas of the entire Palyul lineage.

Good, straightforward portrait, Archana. I like how Buddha is shown in his environment here, so the cropping is very effective. Nice clarity in this image, too.

Thanks
