Beaucoup de Gitanes vivent au Rajasthan, particuličrement dans la région du Shekawati et dans la zone du désert du Thar, frontaličre entre lInde et le Pakistan.
Le désert de Thar appelé aussi le Grand Désert indien ou Mârusthali, le Pays de la mort est un désert qui s'étend de l'État du Rajasthan au nord-ouest de l'Inde au Pakistan oů il porte le nom de désert du Cholistan. C'est le septičme désert dans l'ordre de la superficie (200 000 km˛).

Many gypsies live in Rajasthan, especially in the Shekawati region and in the Thar desert area, at the border between India and Pakistan .
The Thar Desert, also known as the Great Indian Desert, is a large, arid region in the northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent. With an area of more than 200,000 sq. km (77,000 sq. mi.) it is world's seventh largest desert. It lies mostly in the Indian state of Rajasthan, and extends into the southern portion of Haryana and Punjab states and into northern Gujarat state. In Pakistan, the desert covers eastern Sind province and the southeastern portion of Pakistan's Punjab province

Hi Patrick,

A gracious woman I will say. Hey we are neighbors today. Very accurate framing and focus. She seems a lot happy to get clicked. Nice natural colors. Nice details. I can even see the veins running down.. down the neck.LOL!!

oh this rugged, hypnotizing beauty is exactly what i want to see more of, the rajasthani gypsies etc..unusually less jewelery. perhaps not married, their status is worn generally..

nice one Patrick though i would have preferred the conventional 3:2 aspect ratio..

Bonjour Patrick

Une jolie Esmeralda au regard insolent et ŕ la grâce sauvage. Les couleurs sont trčs belles, le piqué est bon aussi. Par contre, je suis moins d'accord avec le cadrage. Je trouve que c'est pas trčs bien équilibré, ainsi. Il me semble que plus franchement vertical; ce serait plus effectif. J'ai fait une tentative de WS. Pas idéale, car un poil trop large, avec un fomat un peu bâtard, mais histoire d'illustrer l'idée. Bravo!

Bonsoir Patrick,
La femme ne semble pas tout ŕ l'aise devant le photographe. Pourtant elle a toute raison d'ętre fičre de ses beaux ornaments. Une belle composition avec le vętement rouge bien utilisé comme cadrage.

I have to disagree with marine and sayeed here - I personally love the square format when it comes to portraits. here I like the way you have included the woman's arm, it creates a nice vanishing angle and increases the colour contrast.
I didn't know about Rajasthan and gypsies - an interesting topic, worth researching.
excellent image quality, as usual, and great eye-contact.

this is a great portrait of fine quality, what strikes me most is the fact that some ladies know how to make themselves beautiful and they are not lazy to do it. When I look in the mirror I can see the difference, there is only a tired mum who has not slept well for ages. ;-)...

This photograph is a sort of answer to a question I posed a while back as to the limitations of male photographers with female subjects. This is a great photograph - nice expression, beautifully framed and cropped. There is a slight note of suspicion in your subject, which works excellently in the context of relationships between gypsies and gaijin in many parts of the world. great work, Iain.
