Photographer's Note
Ram Lal told me of how in Rajasthan nomadism was much in decline with many Rabari choosing to become farmers or labourers. The reason for this shift he put down to loss of grazing land “farmers have put fields where the jungle used to be.” Ram Lal is Babudan’s son (see previous photo). Despite the harshness of their nomadic lifestyle and the problems put in the way by aggressive farmers and an indifferent government Ram Lal's lively intelligence allowed him to maintain a sharp sense of humour. “We true Rabari will always be able to find a path where others cannot… Our lives are hard but they are not finished yet.”

simply great portrait. good framing and composition. nice DOF for the face. the blurred bg tells the place, camels, desert...
i can only complain abt light, you shot it quite late in the afternoon, sun had already gone down.

Good portrait. The face itself is interesting with that contour of the skin, the teeth, and the color of the eyes, plus of course the smile.

i love this
and i love the fact that the light is not so strong . youve caught the perfect atmosphere for this photograph. this mood couldnt have been captured in brighter light.
your composition is great . i love the camels in the blur in the background. they add more to the story here.
take care :)

The smiles of the father and the son are beautiful and full of hope and joy;-) This time you have had more light it seems for this portrait is quite sharp! I understand that a good timing to see them is november, is that right?
