Photographer's Note
The old wooden bridge in Raichak.
Raichak is a village sitting on the left bank of River Ganges (also called River Hooghly) close to the estuary.
This ramshackle bridge connects two villages on either side of the creek.. People, bicycles, bikes, scooters, even cars cross this quaint wooden bridge. The middle portion of the bridge, as you can well see, is bent and broken with age & load & its not hard to guess that the bridge might collapse soon. The soft silt bed on which the bridge legs rest, are pushed upstream by the soft sediment & running water during high tide & that has slowly displaced the very foundation of the bridge itself
I loved the the air of the village...pure...the smell of nature without any trace of pollution. Pity that it was a dull day with a featureless grey sky. I would love to go back to Raichak & take picture of this same place under a blue sky
An Afterthought : I decided to a sepia version considering the lack of punchy colour. You can see the Sepia version here. Which version would you prefer?

Hi Angshu,
Nice take of bridge. So many bridges in west bengal villages are like this. And probably this is the only way to go to the other part.
As you mentioned sky is purely grey.

yes, this is certainly crooked and not for the feint hearted to cross. I am pleased that the cyclist seems to be waiting his turn and letting the foot passengers cross first.
It looks like a nice place, a little like Bangladesh

Hello Angshu,
nice the view as the presentation of this old wooden bridge that looks like to be collapsed in every moment.I like the created atmosphere, the light and the colour management as the beauty of the place.

Hello Angshuman,
A wonderful capture of the old styled bridge. I like the framing using the plants in the front in this picture. Wonderful mood with the greens and palmtrees I enjoy the beautiful scenery in this picture.
Have a nice evening,
Greetings,

Hi Angshuman,
The length of the river is giving depth to the composition. The trees are framing well the river. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the bridge. The good luminosity is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Bonjour Angshuman,
Il fallait vouloir bâtir un pont différent pour le rendre aussi croche et difficile ŕ traverser. Cela ferait un vraiment beau saut ŕ bicyclette. Le point de vue est excellent.

Namaskar Angsuman,
Chobita sundor bhabe presented, subject ta ektu queer. The surrounding green and the little stream (nullah) actually draws the eye.If clicked a little later, the man with cycle on the bridge would have been an even better view ,to me. Its a nice picture.

Namaste, my friend Angshuman,
the sepia version have a fine atmosphere, and give an ancient feeling to your photo of the old wooden bridge, which seems be broken.
But I like too the original color version, it's a superb capture with an efficient light, a few soft colors and a beautiful graphical wealth.
A beautiful work.
Best wishes,
Josep

Tx to your notes. It' s a good record shot of this rickety wooden pedestrian bridge in sad state waiting to collapse and in need of repairs badly. I notice that the speck of bright colours waiting to cross within the setting demand equal attentions too and this makes the shot works and flows nicely, a fine ideas conveying the reality facing the rural folks in such situation. I prefer this greyish shot which is reflecting a gloomy picture that tells a story and speaks to viewers directly. Well done, TFS
Have a great day
Kind regards

Hello Angshu,
I find these picture most beautiful, sepia is nice but not for this type of picture, maybe alone for old portraits.
When I saw these bridge, I am a little bit afraid for the stability
A nice composition, good captured too.
Original colors and very pleasant for look at.
Very well done, TFS.
Best regards,
John.

Hello again Mr. B,
The rickety old bridge makes a compelling shot. The style reminds me of another spindly bridge, Roger Moore as James Bond crossed, in accelerating and acquiring angular momentum as he propelled his car across. I like very much the composition and colors in this photo, with the three slim palm trees on the left, and the unique silhouette of the rickety bridge in the center. It appears that a woman and her children are about to begin their trek across...
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hello Angshu
It certainly looks as though it hyas sustained some flood damage when the river was much higher. Possibly from a log or flood born debris. Anyway good sharpness & the people add scale & context. I like the subdued, muted colours. Tfs!

Hello Angshuman,
I like this picture although the disrepair of the bridge gives the impression that time has stood still, since noone bothers to repair it. The sepia version makes the bad conditions look more plausible, since it could have been taken more than a hundred years ago (as long as you don'y notice the bicycle). But the environment looks nice and peaceful.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Angshu,
An adventurous crossing!
For the cyclist the last part will be a bit like ski jumping :)
Yet this bridge has lots of charm and the beautiful natural environment contributes greatly to the beauty of this image.
Personally I prefer this picture above the sepia version.

Hi Angshu,
great POV to emphasize the poor shape of the bridge. The palm trees add a nice touch too. Good that you have some people walking the bridge it adds some more life. I prefer the natural colors.
Lovely view, very well captured,
