Photographer's Note
Here is another reasonably old photo from Madurai in southern India, from 28 years ago. I don't have much to say about it since I only have very vague memories of taking it. A woman walking past a building where freshly dyed yarns are left for drying in the sun.
I can add that it was scanned from a Kodachrome slide and that you can see a larger version here.

Hello Gert,
A great photo of this street corner, the composition is perfectly balanced. The bright yellow and green really stand out against the more naturally coloured house. The lady is very well included too: it's a calm and peaceful daily life view!

Hello Gert,
I visited Madurai during my trip to Southern India earlier this year, fascinating place. I like the double perspective. The yarns drying on the racks provide much graphical interest and contrast nicely with the rather drab surroundings. The lady passing by is a bonus.

Hello Gert,
On your Indian pictures I always get the impression that the people in the streets didn't notice your presence.
The dyed yarns are an attraction in themselves and provide here a most colourful background.
The young lady is ideally positioned on the picture.
Very attractive daily life-picture.
Best regards, Paul

Hej Gert,
Quite peaceful street view from India. Often there are more crowds around. Dyed yarns look nice. No doubt they ended up in some very colouful clothes.

Hello Gert
I did expect today a picture from Stockholm with the new record (39 cm) early November snow. It was even on the Dutch Television news.
But this beautiful and colourful 28 years old picture that suits better your present series.
Funny coincidence, there is an article in my todays paper about the special colours of Kodachrome.
Have a good weekend

Hello Gert,
the setting is modest but the rich and vibrant colours of the dyed yarns make it so spectacular and attractive. The quiet street has acquired a magical and festive aspect, even though no one is actually celebrating it. The lady surely adds interest, her apparent indifference makes me think of models in certain fashion photography concepts. I like how you balanced your composition and exalted the colours, preserving the clarity of the shady parts too. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,
Ourania

Hi Gert
Excellent upload both as a document from three decades ago and a superbly taken photo. Great timing for the main subject and perfect crop of the foreground. The colours of India evocatively captured and of course it wouldn't be the same without human presence.
Have a nice weekend

Hello Gert,
This is a very pleasingly composed photograph, the corner of the building perfectly placed in the frame, and the bright colours of the drying yarns immediately adding to the appeal. And, of course, the lady is also perfectly placed and adds greatly to the image which otherwise would have lacked any human interest.
Despite having been scanned from a Kodachrome slide almost 30 years old, the colours are wonderfully vibrant and you have also managed to control what were probably very strong contrasts remarkably well.
Wonderful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Dear Gert,
It is a stunning shot. The street is excellently divided according to the rule of the thirds, the woman is well placed. I like that she slightly looks out of the frame, leading my eyes back from the left of the image.
And those colours!
Have a nice weekend!

Hello, Gert,
The picturesque dyed yarns made this composition, very eye-catching colors. I think their life does not changed from 1988 here, perhaps they have mobile phones only.
Another excellent scanned archive work! TFS!

Hi, Gert.
A magnificent composition, which has all the flavor and atmosphere of India, with all these skeins of thread, drying in the sun, the girl carrying something in her hands and dressed in traditional sari, puts a nice touch to the image.
A magnificent color that gives much chromatic richness to the image.
Very good lighting management and very good sharpness.
Well done. I like it.
I wish you a good weekend.
Best Regards.
Luis.

Hello Gert,
What nice colors and warm sunshine. I like how the dyed yarn is drying on both sides of this small building, and the woman is passing by at just the right time and place. I like it when street addresses are affixed to buildings; it's a rare thing to find in modern NYC, but some older buildings still have bricks with the street address etched into them. Is that a sign for a "Lovers Association" on the side, too?! :-)

Hej Gert,
En intressant bild med industriell verksamhet och likaså inslag av mänskligt liv. Den här dagen stod det tydligen gult och grönt på tillverkningsprogrammet. Man kan ju undra vad kvalitetsutfallet blev den här dagen.

Hi Gert
I still have a hard time about 1988 being 28 years ago, i feel like i'm getting old, i don't feel 41.
neat shot/scene for sure, the dyed yarn is very cool and makes for an excellent photographic subject. warm bright lighting too, and an attractive lady walking past is always a bonus.
To answer your question on my latest post, yeah i probably wouldn't have waited for people to arrive before snapping off that photo in years past. As i've said to you before, i feel i'm growing as a photographer and I appreciate other subjects, not just modern architecture and abandoned vehicles, homes, buildings. What about you? I don't see you photographing out of your 'comfort' zone :) what do you have to say about that? haha just joking of course
cheers

Hei Gert
Herlig bilde:)
Ha en fin helg.
Hilsen Erling

Hello Gert,
What a lovely historic photo! I like the colors of the yarns, the textures on the building and the presence of this colorfully attired lady about to cross the street. Another treasure from your vaults!
