The Ferry, a photo from West Bengal, East

Photographer's Note

Malda is the main town of the district of the same name of the Indian state of West Bengal. The Malda region is washed by the waves of the rivers Ganges, Mahananda, Fulahar and Kalindri. The people living near the river Mahananda have to cross the river daily to come to the town and go back home to the villages. One of the boats that ferry people was at work that late afternoon when I was prowling the enbankment.

Simply cropped and sharpened. Some disturbing spots cloned out.

Simple but powerful composition. The colors work well with the boab being adrift in the sea of green. Great work!

I like the simplisity!
Pleasing composition, with good dynamics between the two groups of people enhanced by the diagonal shoreline... Good colours and details and the calmness of the water is amazing!
Bit pity you cut the guy with the bike...

This is an interesting composition, Salil. The boat seems suspended in the blue-green water (I am a bit color blind, so don't know what the color is really like) but it is suspended in the transperant medium where the sky and the water has merged into one. The group of people on the right is needed but there are too many. If I were you, I would crop just behind the first woman. I will try a workshop.

good composition, place ment of the subjects are just right. good detail, although color could be better with some digital magic. very simplistic yet magnificent.
