Photographer's Note
Holi is one of northern India's most widely celebrated festivals. It occurs sometime between February and March during the Hindu month of Phalguna. Known as the 'festival of colors', Holi is occasioned by the throwing of colorful pigments, rangoli, towards friends and strangers (especially foreigners) - so it's a good idea to leave your fancy camera in the room during the day.

Simply a fantastic candid portrait. The color, clarity and DOF are excellent and the overall composition is well balanced. It looks like this young fellow got hit square in the face with that red pigment. Well done.

Very dramatic light, especially beautiful blur on the teeth of chainring and chain.
Impressive shot!

Hello, Caleb--
Nice work, the warm lighting really worked well for you. This is another one of your great color schemes, with neutrals highlighted by the red of his face. The bicycle makes an interesting bokeh, and it's interesting how the boy echoes the frame of the bike. i had a friend that was in India during Holi, and his self-portraits from the aftermath were quite humorous.
Thanks!

Hi Caleb,
In Goa Holy festival lasts for about 15 days and every day different groups will be in different places... When they throwing colors(not to much) in a nice way , then I don t mind...
I like the expression of the boy with his colored face and the light which illuminates it. The BG with the bicycle looks good too...
Cheers,
Marilyn

Another great job. These colors are fantastic and the detail of the bicycle give the photograph the context it needs. There is always a lot going on in your photographs if one pays attention.
Great Job.

The re-faced fool, pigment covered at the en of the carnival, so well captured by you, C. There's a very nice quality to the backgrund, almost an abstraction of bike parts basking in the bokeh of your 24-70.
Very nice,
Francis

Hi Caleb,
Im scared for my camera to shoot Holi festival photos! But alwys an interesting subject.Good timing in catching that expression, nice shallow DOF isolating him from bokeh BG.. His face in the sunlight comes out nicely too.. he is also well placed in the image
Nice portrait
