Photographer's Note
Ganga Aarti at Dasaswamedh ghat, Varanasi.
It is a heavily choreographed ritual ceremony which begins after sunset.

Hi Siddhartha,
This is one of the best shots of the Aarti on TE. The amazing clarity of the misssing arms make your short more beautiful. The flames seem to burn all the evil of the mind and the heart.
"Its a pity on this board of TE, that politics and points trading among the members deprive them of the different shots which truly belong to the spirit of Trek Earth."
The depth in the shot and the perspective in it, attracts immediately. The devotion in the eyes and the sternness in the body, and the ease with which the ritual is goin on makes your shot totally different from others.
Its a rare shot, I repeat again, and the symmetry is superb.
The down left corner disturbs, but in moments like this your concentration is always on the bright subjects, leaving aside others, and this is agreeable.
Keep shooting Siddhartha, keep posting.
Warm Regards,
Rajeev

Hi Siddhartha,
I agree mostly with what Rajeev had to say, its a pity really that a picture as good as this does not get the deserved appreciation. I have been there shooting the same scene and know how tough it is pulling this off with the clarity and colours you have achieved.
Best Wishes

Hi Siddhartha,
As already there are many words about this work of yours , I think what I say now will be a repeatation. Still I appreciate your work very much. I understand that this is a very tough job photographing the Aarti in Banaras. You have done it beautifully.

Hello Siddhartha
One of the best pictures of the Aarti either in this site or otherwise. The sweeping curve, the motion blurred hand goes to show how swift the movement was. The diagonal arrangement of the dancers brings in amazing depth. The muted colours help highlight the flames & the tight action of the performers. I would have wanted to know a bit more of the technicals like aperture & shutter speed..because it would help novices like me learn more. This picture deserves much more appreciation than it has got now, though points is not exactly a measure of a good picture. Keep posting...
Best wishes
Angshu
