MONI, a photo from Kerala, South

Photographer's Note

Hello Friends,
Let me introduce you to Moni, who lives in our village.He is a farmer who cultivates rice in hid paddy fields. It seems in his younger days, he had a fine pair of bullocks with which he used to plough the entire feilds in our village. He and his pair of bullocks were much sought after which eventually gave him the name,"Kala Moni". In our language, Kala means bull. Moni does not mind being addressed like that. In fact he considers it an honor.Says, there is nobody in the whole village who could work like him. May be it's true. There are very few die hard farmers like him who still labour in the fields from morning to evening. Actually they don't have to. Their children are earning and taking care of them. But nobody and nothing can keep people like Moni away from these lands. For them , it is their way of life. Salutes to those farmers like Moni who toil in these fields to provide us with grain.

excellent portrait. I like the dark pale color as it gives a vintage tone to the picture. The close frame adds a lot details

The years of hard life is written on his face. The determination is felt in his eyes.Lights are playing a great role in bringing out his expressions vividly .Good DoF. A small problem is that the subject is too centered in this composition , it is my personal view. Your shots are making a mark in TE. Congrats and TFS

A nice effort on bringing out the personality... A typical hard working, simpleton`s face so typical of the land...
Little finer controls on B&W required..But then we all go through the same grind...
